I live in VA where the ground is mainly red clay that stains the bottom of our many brick sided homes. Have any of you use the sauce on brick for this problem. I know you can use it on siding but what about brick?
David I just had red brick wall this week that need to be cleaned look for pressure washing supply company near you that sales iron stain remover or brightener that is used tanks of tractor trailers depending. I used product called clear pink power from ameritech pressure cleaning supplies. I found that using pump up sprayer works good for me for clear pink stuff.
Normally anything with Pink in the name or for aluminum brightening contains hydrofluoric acid. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR A HOUSE WITH IT. Hydrofluoric acid is one of the worst to mess with. It will damage a lot of different things that would end up costing more than what you are getting to clean the house. I left a gallon in my truck for a few days and just the fumes from it etched all 6 of my windows inside.

Jon what are you using to take out iron stains and efflorescencet. I have used that product alot on iron stains and that stuff does work on iron stain and light efforescencet stains. For iron stains I mix it in pump up 4 parts water 1 part brightener never had problem. Jon, you are right about acid can etch paint, glass and even damage concret used wrong. I never leave acid on no longer then 5-10 minates at time.

I haven't run across it much. Like Jeff said probably oxalic for rust stains. If it was real bad you could try hydrochloric, it's almost as strong but won't damage as much. But I don't know haven't experimented yet. The only time I've run across it was when I was cleaning before a paint job, and for the efflorescence I used the ol turbo nozzle. But that was on stucco, not much brick down here.
I would just be afraid to get any spray on windows using hydrofluoric acid because it doesn't take much or very long to do damage.

Or you could just call Mike or Lyn at EacoChem and get the proper chemicals for the job. We happen to do ALOT of brick cleaning. Wouldn't use anything else.
