Actually my brother was in the carpet installation biz and he did that to a competitor a few times, sent him on bogus estimates far away.
He staked out a couple of em, the guy bought the bait but there was no address to go to. But it wouldn't work nowadays with the internet and google.
But he had a blast with him then.

Or blow his ass off. Its a few hours later. I asked him to throw me something. Told him I was looking at trailers. A bigger one. He knows some guy a lil deep in Va. Deff worth my while. Nothing. Almost half price. No email about that dude?

I seen in another thread somewhere, trust, but verify first?

Normally I'da done it. Called him yesterday? left a message, did you get the job, what?

I already need a gutter cleaning sub, he dipped out.

Keep in mind you are NOT Chris T, and it is not in your best interest to educate your competitors. Refer therm here and let them learn the hard way like you did.

Remember the old saying " LOOSE LIPS, SINK MIGHTY SHIPS". Looks like yours has a major leak already.!

Gutterdag, Gary is right. I have done the same thing many times. I stand there talking to a pressure washing only guy, he asks me what "Softwashing" on my work shirt is and like an idiot, I spew out everything he needs to know. Next time I see his truck it says "lucky Dude Presssure washing & No Pressure Roof Cleaning?

I have way too much competition already!!

If I was in my right mind, I wouldn't even send a LOCAL guy here!

The less a local competitor knows the better!

One exception: If he's doing roofs chemically already and spoiling the name of non pressure roof cleaning. Then, a bad overall image could be even worse for me?

It's a tossup with that!

if you educate your competition the right way then they might and should see the value of charging the rates that you charge and understand not to give the services away. You guys need to understand that there is the same information everywhere on other sites that is free and if someone really wants to do this roof cleaning thing they will eventually learn how to either from here for money or elsewhere for free.

Mike, last summer I got screwed by 2 "friends". I don't like to trust anyone with money. When I take my employees with me roof cleaning I don't let them know the chems. I'm using.

He got info out of me yesterday. Bout one forum. UAMCC. I told him this is give and take, You got to give me something to move forward, with this. Mentioned I'm building a second trailer. He got the trailer guy hook up! He was supposed to email info last night, didnt.

Told him to call and remind me the meeting at Starbucks. He wanted to do lunch, that too much time! Coffee is better. I aint like the dude, he reminds me of another washer, not too far away.

Ok this morning the reminder call. Asked why he for got to send info, trailer place. He forgot. I said dude I got to roll out early today, cant make that meeting. He said he was going by trailer place today! Well that a good save, lol! Yesterday he said it was a 40 mile drive. Asked if I was down with that, I said hell yea, for the deals! I'm getting one this week.

Here the funny chit, Doing estimates today, There spaced out today, Bowie, Laplata, and Leonardtown, All roofs, one upsold house wash, Dude calls right. He is at the trailer place now!!! GREAT, I'm going back to make a decision on a trailer today, somewhere else.

$500 bucks, Lowes!!!!! 1 Day left! I bought the display, it was the last one!! Sunday or Monday is the last day! It's a $750 trailer.

Alright Dude calls.

He's there at trailer place, got a single axle trailer, 5x10 for $1100. There willing to negotiate. That aint no better than any where else. lol! Yesterday I checked a few places out, trailers. Like I'm stupid.

Well I knocked out the other 2 estimates, heading back, I need someone in St Marys! lol!!!

I'll only go down there for roofs.

I stop at lowes, dude right there buying the last one. Only one left. The display, I get the cash I'm back I snag the display! These trailers can be strenthened, The true inside measurements, are better either lenghwise, or width, or both. Every toung was centered.

Here is something for everybody. This is how we are, we are about 2 weeks booked out. "Its gonna get worse. The booking doesnt start from the estimate. You get put in the books after the contract! "

The dude done dropped the ball twice. And he knows he did. His whole website is a lie. I'm glad he did.

Some guys come out there with lies. He said he has Burger king contracts, chit like that, all big and stuf. I was gonna meet a guy last year. Talked a bunch of chit. I was gonna come by his house. Check him out. Atleast see where he at with equipment. He started explaining why he isnt where he should be yet... All these excuses.

No value there for me.

I'm kinda burning out, with this networking chit. With competitors.
