I've been using Talon exclusively, but I'm not convinced it will suffice for this mansard roof.  I'm all ears about how much of what to use and where to get it.  I'll be mixing up 40 gallons exclusively for this house.  Thanks.

Talons good stuff. Just double what you normally use. we use Dawn for everything and it works fine so Talon should more than suffice.

Art:

I am using the Myristyldimethylamine Oxide and it is great for dwell time. I get it from Brainerd Chemical Company. The code for it is BC-MAO I deal with Brain Allen.

I just saw post last week that Chris was talking about what he uses on a really steep roof. P-90 or P-9. I don't know that is what pops into my head. Probably way off. Can't remember what thread it was in.

I just did a mansard roof a few weeks ago. I used BC-MAO from Brainerd and it worked great. I've used Talon before and being honest, it wouldn't have worked as well as the BC-MAO, even though I do like it for average pitched roofs.

The NP 9 really sticks, we get it from florida chemical supply on chelsea street in tampa from Marilyn, it is about 15 bucks a gallon.

we put 3 gallons in 300, this is the result, but it is a BITCH to rinse off, and eats your stuff up in a few days.

I was wondering about that in the mix? Like your pictures with the church sign? Good looking gang. LOL

Do you really use Dawn over all the other fancy stuff mentioned here? No, I'm not questioning you Scott, just picking your brain (method).

Your experience may be correct Scott. It never had a chance to kill our mix, we used it all that day. We have used it a few times since that, but we go through mix fast around here. We only use it for extreme cases, like that Church roof.

This Pastor waited for the rain, he really had little choice. That stuff resisted rinsing!

Larry from All Surface was there with us that day, and we both tried rinsing the roof, it just kept sudsing and sudsing, the more we tried to rinse. I told the Pastor we would be leaving a "Bio Film" on the roof roof cleaning that would require a good rain. I told the other customers that too, and they loved the idea!

For those of you cleaning w/o surfactants of some kind, customers seem to Love the suds and bubbles coming off their roof.

The parishioners of that Church still talk about the "Bio Film" we put on their Church.

We just cleaned an older couple who attend the Church, and they wanted the "Bio Film"

Brett, yes, I've used ammonyx, NP9, Talon, etc....they all work well, Talon works the best out of the fancy stuff that I've tried. I think it all depends on who you buy from also. Dawn works JUST as well and I can get it cheap and locally so there's no shipping or waiting. I buy about 60 large bottles at a time. Never had a situation where anything else was necessary.

Here is a good thread on this, for anyone wanting some additional reading.

Thanks for the help guys. To be honest, I've been somewhat disappointed in the Talon, but most of my roofs lately have been fairly steep. I told the customer that I'll rinse his roof 2 days after we treat it because having dead algae on it would look like ship. I saw the previous thread on the NP9 but I wasn't sure where to get it. I think I'll go with the NP9 because I want to be certain that the mix is dead before I rinse. This house is 300 yards from the ICW so anything I rinse will end up in it eventually. Also, the owner is going to introduce me to a guy who works for the biggest roofing company around here if he likes my work. He is also going to try to get some of his neighbors on board. Thanks again.
