I have a question? I hear many on here say they use 2 tanks.1 filled with SH the other water and then use a manifold, ball valve or whatever to control the mix going out. Then switching to straight water to clean out your system.

If you are doing this when & where are you adding your surfactants,TSP, Dawn or whatever else you decide to put in your mix??

I am currently keeping 1 tank SH & the other as my mixing tank that I draw from, just mixing what I need for each project.

Then when done I just fill up some buckets & run about 20 gallons of clean water through the system.

I am setting up my new truck this week and I need all the direction I can get. Any help or thoughts would be greatly apreciated

In a response on the open forum side Jeff had mentioned the t valves and such. I know this but it doesn't answer my question on adding everything to your mix and still having a tank of clean water??

http://www.sprayers.com/ This is the compnay that helped me setup my system. Iowa is big farm country and they use chemicals that make our look weak. LOL

Anyway, I have one tank with blue on the lip for SH only, the other tank is for mix, the small tank is for water, rinse, all teed and valved to work together. I also have a top feed hose on my mix tank where I can quick release from the main hose line and pump direct from the SH tank. I also have a garden hose connect to the top fill line that supplies water direct, also using quick releases. Have an inline filter running from both the SH and Mix tanks. Just a matter of turning some valves and away we go.

I pull off the SH I need, switch and pull off the water I need, add my surfactant, premixed, give everything a good mixing and start spraying.

Here are some picture.

Thanks for posting this on the premium side Aaron.  Far too many lurkers on the guest side these days.

If I read your question right, are you looking to draw from an SH tank and a water tank at the same time, ie having it 'mix' itself in the pump and hose assembly? (And therefore wondering where to add surfactant etc)

I wasn't aware guys were doing it this way. I'm using three tanks to get these results. Water, Sh, and Mix tanks. My set up is similar to Bruce's.

 Yes,

I'm not running this way (yet, although I've given thought to it).  We know of one vendor that is using an injection system, however; pumps in tandem should yield the desired effect.  For example, a 3 GPM pump for water (and surfactant etc), and a parallel 2 gpm pump for SH would likely suffice.  A third and even lesser flow pump could be used to insert surfactant etc although the more complex the set up gets, the more points of failure there are.  (I've kept mine simple so far for that very reason.)

Chuck - I know you use a parallel or tandem pump set up because you like the flow, right?  Can you provide some pictures? Do both of your pumps just feed in to a 'Y' connector as I suspect?

**edit** I currently run 3 tanks as well, 12% SH, roof mix, and water.

I'm curious to see different pumps working together. I hauled gasoline before ethanol was forced on us and initially the ethanol was loaded before the gasoline. Then they started loading them simultaneously and if 1 lane out of four was working properly it was a miracle. I would be hesitant to "mix as I go" so to speak because of the risk of equipment failure. Water pump fails and you're pumping straight SH. SH pump fails and you aren't cleaning the roof. Can you tell from on the ladder if one or the other fails? I'm not saying it can't be done, I have just had too many bad experiences with a similiar situation.

I agree. I don't see the pump that is pumping straight SH lasting very long, maybe a week? I know before I actually knew how to clean a roof, I was mixing at up to 80% SH, and I tore some pumps up in short time. Jon

We have dual tanks, one for shingle solution, and one for tile roof cleaning. All chemicals are pre mixed, we just switch feeds at the pump.

We ''softwash" with the shingle roof cleaning solution. It is a little strong for softwashing as is, so we simply wet the surface down to be cleaned with water first.

We do about 85 percent roof cleaning only, and find this system meets our needs.

Yes, it is nearly 275 feet of 5/8 hose on the largest hose reel made by Titan Products.

Swivels are ALWAYS a problem, sometimes we have stainless, sometimes plastic, depending on what they have when one wears out.

We have even stuck on brass swivels, in a pinch.

Get the Titan aluminum reel, with stainless steel manifold, no need for FULL stainless.

I am sure Lori already knows about this little trick when ordering Titan Hose Reels.

Extra nozzles always a great idea, they seem to get lost, LOL
