Acid isn't safe for roofs. All I'm saying is be careful how you word things and what you claim. I just don't see the point in alienating te PWNA guys when a lot of them cl ean A LOT more roofs and make A LOT more money than most here. There's more than one way to skin a cat (pardon the platitude).

Look Scott, here is how it is. A Certifying Organization must uphold what it believes to be right. Some Garages make a fortune selling "front end alignments' that consist of only adjusting toe in, neglecting caster and camber, or even to check the freaking wheel bearings! There are many NIASE certified mechanics working at some of these Garages. They were TAUGHT the right way to do an alignment. All we can do is TRY to teach what we feel is the best way to clean a roof. We are not the FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security. If someone wants RCIA Certification, they can learn our way of cleaning. After learning the right way to clean a roof, and choosing to intentionally deviate from our guidelines, they are on their own. Just as the NIASE is not going to go to every single garage to check up on a mechanics work, neither are we.

All NIASE Mechanic Certification means is someone once LEARNED the right way to fix a car or truck. If they choose to torque a cylinder head with a 'calibrated elbow' vs a torque wrench, or set timing 'by ear' vs using a scope and a timing light, that is on them.

But NIASE will never compromise their standards, just because some hack garage is "making a fortune" finding ways around their guidelines.

And neither will RCIA.

Chris, its like this as well. You can wax a car with a buffer or by hand with a cloth. Both are safe and both are effective. Using high damaging pressure would be like putting a piece of sand paper on the buffer and waxing it with that. THAT is not ok, but using a safe low pressure is no more damaging than the softwash method.

Look Chris, it makes no difference for me because I use the method you are certifying (will never get certified however). You are just cutting out 50% of the roof cleaners, many of whom have clout in the industry, such as Mike Hilborn. At the same time you're short changing the amount of money the RfCIA can generate and you're doing it for no real reason except an "us VS them" type mentality.

I have no Skin in the game, just my honest thoughts.

I am not sure how I am placing myself in a position to be judge as there is no BOD, to my undrestanding, therefore nothing to be judged for? This is a forum and Chris Tucker is the BOD.

Let me ask you a question Scott, why would a non pressure cleaning contractor like yourself ask a question like that ? Do YOU pressure wash roofs, and are YOU in favor of it ?

Bill, please stop bad mouthing our Certification. ALL Certification Methods and Procedures will be finally approved by ME. Let's talk instead about your PWNA Buddies we ate diner with, who didn't have a CLUE of how we cleaned roofs at the Tampa Roundtable, but are now copying us! I just MAY personally certify everyone, simply because my roof cleaning experience and knowledge is w/o question.
