Gutters that go straight into the ground..

Guys,

What do you do to prevent damage when the gutter goes straight into the ground and there is no way to get it out without damage?

I face this issue on an upcoming job. I can't see where it goes, and I can't unscrew and disconnect any portion of the gutter in order to bag it.

Where do these underground gutter systems usually route to?

I suppose I could disconnect further up the siding and use an extension if I have to.

Thanks,
Phil.

Phil you need to speak correctly. I dont under stand. You sound like a customer.

There are gutters, and there are downspouts, and there are underground drains.

Underground drains are either pvc, or the black corragated tubing.

Underground drains either come out some where or to a french drain.

Except one job that went to a stocked pond.

I wanna help, but help me help you.

Yes, Sir, Mr. Hockman, Sir! My apologies, I will brush up on my gutter talk.

Let me correct myself, the downspout goes underground into corrugated black plastic but it is too tight to disconnect above ground. I'm unsure of where it ends, or if flows to a french drain. I couldn't find anything, I was just hoping it didn't end in the middle of the yard somewhere and then there would be a bunch of dead grass... Obviously not what I'd want.

If its black corregated then it Does come out into the grass. Run a gutter cane or put the hose in the gutter to flush completely.

I'm pretty sure our gutters go to storm sewers.

Do you have 2 elbows at the top of the downspout, you should. Take it apart there. Now the ground man is real important.

This like the job in calvert.

The petting zoo.

Any way, Wet the hell out of where the downspots drain, rinse the roof, and rinse the gutter, before you put it back together.

You wont kill one fish, bush or flower, or anything.

But if you were a gutter cleaner, You should find out where these underground drains go to.

It is in TX. We only use hard pipes to run into the sewers

Phil
Buy a vinyl leader from HD. Diconect the house leader from the gutter. Hook the vinyl leader to the outlet on the gutter with a small screw. Then put a garbage can below the vinyl leader to catch the run off. I use the vinyl leader because you can keep using it over again as needed. You can also put a garbage bag in the garbage can to catch the run off and take it with you. GOOD LUCK.

Yea we have a few different systems here.

1. Standard that empties into the yard
2. Ones that have the black plastic and go under the ground and empty into the yard
3. Ones that are hard piped and go out to the street under ground
4. Ones that are hard piped and go into the storm sewers. With these if you want to avoid the chem in the sewer you can plug the dowspout and just let the gutter overflow with water.
