Bill, I'm not going to make issue of it in this post other than to show you that you did kinda' ask that this type of info be posted on the premium board.
I copied and pasted this from a thread I started labeled "My Roof "Wand"
From Bill Booz: We used them at first as well. I remember when a lot of guys in the starting days of RCIA were all asking: How do I make a gun?? I guess the pros have put up enough examples at this point that the lurkers can find them easily. Personally I would post these kind of things in the members section. That is part of why it was made, so if you want to share with just the members, you can at least know who you are sharing with instead of the whole world.
I am neither against an association or for it,.you guys can do as you please. I come on here to read with interest and give information when I can. I did freely state at one point that I hadn't any desire to be part of the premium side, but that doesn't mean I'm against it or members who choose it or the way the members there choose to run it.
As far as I'm concerned, the informal association that has always existed with the old RCIA forum was good enough. I choose not to participate in the politics of the premium board because I don't ever see roof cleaning as being anything more than a simple service like lawn care or painting. For me,.it's just not worth all the crap that's going on,... and the board is being turned away from the nuts and bolts of roof cleaning and turning more into a commercialized forum.. If an association can get members better insurance rates and deals on materials then thats great.
Someone like David posts an idea, and AC being a vendor, steps in and tells him not to post these simple ideas. I do take exception to that ,......of course though,..I take exception to AC.... period.
Ahh I did say that, I stand corrected, thank you. I was just expressing my opinion on that one. I kinda think AC was just telling David how he felt. I don't see any words that say you must remove your post, or you can't say things. He just told him the same thing almost every vendor that has been here has said.
I understand that AC creates a negative spark for some of us, and really he probably should have just not said anything. But he had an opinion and he expressed it privately. I get upset when this one dude being here becomes turned into the entire board. We don't work for AC.
Hell Chris and me have spent a ton of money making this, I am sure it is well over 10k we have spent. So it gets old when we get turned into the board is just trying to make money. That is false and insulting to your volunteers.
PS thank you Jeff: This is turning into a nice civil debate and I am happy to hear some of your true feelings. When any of us get to ranting I think we loose sight of what any of our true feelings are.
Comments from another in this thread like: BOOM THERE GOES... really just feed the drama and anger.

Yea, I realize that no one was told explicitly to remove the posts,..but it still leads to some of the members here being possibly a little less likely to post there ideas.
And believe me,..I don't care if the board profits from all this good info,..it's well worth what ever anyone has to pay.
My thoughts and opinions are my own and there isn't anyone here that is gonna encourage me or "fuel the fire" to make my posts any different than my own thoughts.

You made me laugh about Fuel the fire. I appreciate that most of us here are there own person, and it can make for conflicts, yet conflicts can make results!! Well they do as long as they don't get to crazy.
Based on recent exposure, he should have left that comment to someone not so under the heat.
I will leave it open for another day or two and if both sides have made their point I'll close it to discussion.
As always it'll still be open for reading.

Heres the rub with this issue though,...if there is gonna be a separate board that is a paid for forum, then so be it. But I believe the issue is having the free board open and having posters kinda put on watch as to what pertinent information is being freely tossed around for the freeloaders to use. Either shut this board down or let the posters post what they want without making them feel like turncoats.
What is this free board gonna be used for if the posters can't post ideas and money saving tips such as what David posted about the vent anchor.
I think the idea of paid for info fine,.... if it was done years ago,...but as far as I'm concerned the damage to a premium board was done long ago when roof cleaning was first being freely discussed. There is so much free info out there right now that anyone wanting to start a roof cleaning business will have plenty of good reading material,..whether it be this board or The Grime Scene, PWP, PTState, or Dons board.
People who are interested in starting this service aren't gonna be stymied because of the RCIA's Premium board and it's guidelines. They will just look elsewhere. So your neighbors will be out there anyhow if they're so inclined.

Jeff, personallyI think we should let the free side do as you pleaseaswell. The mods are there to keep the peace and addresse concerns, not lock you all down. This will be discussed and the AC issue at this comming Tuesdays meet. The paid side is much more than just the message board and I agree that the info is out there anyway so trying to control it is almost impossible. We tried it this way, I think it's time for a change.
