One question for you guys going to the pick up truck mounted rigs. Where are you carring your tools and parts at?
I know i carry alot of tools for extras. and I really dont know if I will like jumping up and down out of the back of a truck all day.
I like the clean look though

Dave, I am having to down grade my tool storage I had an aluminum truck box on my trailer, and now am having to use the old "behind the seat" storage. I only have a short bed, so storage in back is limited right now. I am not done with the build yet, but I had some jobs to do this week so I made it work for now. I just plumbed the mix tank through the pump and to the hosereel. I plumbed 3/4" to the pump from the tank and 1/2" from pump to the reel. I have EDPM 3/4" hose that will be used in the final plumbing for everything. I will be plumbing my fresh water "manifold" with 4 valves, and my Chem manifold for SH and other chems to add into mix tank. I will not have to climb in back of the truck for anything. I will not have time to work on the build till next week. When I do I will have pics and updates.
OK, I finally received my new hose reel and my shirts this week. I decided to remount everything on 3" C-Channel instead of the plastic pallets. This will drop the tanks down 5", and give the setup a better center of gravity. I only had an hour to work on it today, so I took the existing setup down and started working on the new mount. I hope to have it complete this weekend. More pics to follow.
$16 each I believe they were. The first one was $3.99. when they had a promotion a few weeks ago. I will be working on the build today, and should have more pics tonight.

OK got some time today to work on the truck mount. I bought the red EDPM 3/4" hose to plumb everything in with. I bought a paintable bed liner from Tractor supply for $45 as opposed to the $99 Herculiner from Auto-zone. When I have everything fabbed up I will cover all the steel components with the paintable bed-liner. I will use the orange rubber pieces that I have to isolate the plastic tanks from the steel to avoid any abrasion and damage to the tanks. I still have to mount the battery, and pumps and plumb everything. If the rain holds out I will have it done tomorrow. I will disassemble, paint all the steel components with the bedliner, and reassemble on Sun. New Hose reel is loaded with 200' of 3/4" hose Chris

Had some time today, and broke down the setup for prep and paint. As you can see in the pic below, there are only 3 simple pcs. to this setup, and a handful of hardware in the yellow bin. I had it broke down and out of my truck in 10 min. (tanks are empty and there is no plumbing as of yet). I used a sanding wheel to clean up all the steel items and cleaned with Evapo-rust (Great stuff) as a preventive measure. Then applied the bed liner coating to all the steel parts. I am letting parts dry over night and will reassemble tomorrow afternoon. I set the hose reels the way I did so if I pull up in front of a customers home I can pull my yellow chem hose easily. The other 3/4 hose can be brought over the other hose reel as a guide and pull easily as well. Same concept applies if I pull in a driveway. I do not think the reels mounted to pull from the back are very user friendly, at least not the way I work.
for the guys going with the truck mount set up. Just an idea. How about building a false floor in the bed, and making a pull-out tray to store all the tools and equipment ? It could be coated with Rhino liner, or what ever you like. Heck, if you got the money, make it out of a sheet of virgin teflon. I built one of these false floor trays for one of my trucks that I used to carry all my fishing and hunting stuff in. It worked great. It was about 8" high.
The truck mount setup is coming together nicely, Chris. The next rig I put together will be very similar. Looks great. I'm anxious to see the finished product.

Ok, got some time to work on the truck today. I have work I have to do, so it is not complete but usable. I will be making changes over the next few weeks. So I got the metal parts coated with Rubberized Truck Bed Liner. I went with shorter bolts for the D-Ring hold downs. I also coated all the hardware after assembly. I found a nice 4 way ball valve garden hose manifold at Tractor supply. Then I found out not to put TOO much force on it because it will break. I do not like the quality, so I will make my own over the next few weeks. Still have to change some plumbing around, and add my accumulator tank. I have to order the 3/4" fitting for the Tank, as it only came with 1/2" barb fittings. When they come in I will add the tank. I will update as I make changes.
