3 hours away? Goodness! You could check the address from multiple places, google, zillow.com, and some other place and you could probably make sure the house is the right house.

@kim hahaha actually I just saw that the last house in Houston was sold. :)

No, things definately ground to a halt for a while. Yesterday was our first warm day in a month or so, so we expected the phones to ring.

i bid about 1 out of 5 residential over the phone & using google maps.  A lot depends on the rapport I have with the caller too.

Factors such as these:
1) I know they are shopping everyone and I'm not going to waste a lot of time
2) I have great rapport with customer, know I've got the job and know the neighborhood ( only 4-or 5 house styes in the areas, etc)
3) they will accept a price "range" until I can physically inspect the property.
4) its just too far out of my metro area to run by real quickly.

Each one is different for me. Wish I had a magic answer to share here.

I sent over 2 estimates by email yesterday. The first was for 1400 and I most likely have it sold. The second was for 200 and she emailed me back to let me know theyd be getting a few estimates.... lol

I could tell when I first talked to the second lady that she was a shopper. Ill still follow up with her through email and I think we will get the job if anyone does but Im glad I didnt waste an hour out of my day driving out there.

In my email estimate I send a very nice attached estimate sheet along with an information sheet and similar before and after pictures of their home. I also try to talk to them imformally in the email.

PS That time that was saved yesterday was put towards finalizing todays very large apartment roof estimate proposalbiggrin

Thats just my thoughts......

How do you get a exact number for LxWxP from a satellite photo?? Or are you just going from past experiences/similar jobs?

Not everyone's quotes are done by the square footage of the roof.   For some, there are many other factors.

This being my first full year as owner/operator, I do all estimates in person. People are still skeptical about the non-pressure roof cleaning. So, if I can meet them face to face and sell myself and service in person, I do just that. Not to mention, most of the time I am able to upsell something.
