I have been using a slightly watered down roof mix on cement sidewalks, spray it, let it dwell for 5 - 10 minutes, and a light scrub with a stiff bristle brush. They come real clean. That is on the really dirty sidewalks. Most times I think I could get by without the scrub, but that's what I started doing, and I like the results.

Some TSP added to your mix will really whiten up all but really bad concrete, compared to a roof mix alone.

Can someone discuss the procedure of downstreaming as it relates to the rinse.

My problem (ignorance) is that i don't understand filling 200 ft of hose with soap and then being able to rinse with just water. when you change tips you no longer pull the soap, but your line is filled with it, correct?

Yes then you use that little bit that is left in a bad area or you know it is in the line so the last part of the job you use it before the water starts.

nod.gif  Ding, ding , ding....We have a winner.

I acually do most of my DS'ing with a 0030 tip. When I'm getting ready to rinse I just crack my ball valve back a bit and she stops pulling soap.

Chlorine in sometimes abbreviated by using the letters SH (Sodium Hypochlorite). It is also confused at times because the same letters (SH) are often also used for Sodium Hydroxide. That's why I normally try to separate the differences by just saying Love for Chlorine.

Yeah,  I guess i see what your saying.  I would love to do a side by side evaluation.  of the xjet vs downstreaming.

1.  which is faster
2.  which is better for a single technician
3.  which leaves the better result (this one would be relative or irrelevant for that matter as it could rely completley on the operator, although maybe it shouldn't, i don't know what i'm saying)

Anyone used both over an extended period?

I've been x-jetting for years.  I'm going to try down streaming this year.  Most here seem to prefer it.

I also downstream. I use the same tips in a tri banger as I use on roofs.
I've got a wide gentle flow and a .0030 for reach , wasp nest and such..
We do have to go to the trailer and remove suction tube from soap each time because of the nozzles.
That is a pain if you are alone.

Crack your ball valve (at the gun) back just a hair and you will stop pulling chems. Either that or add a 0020 to your tip nozzle arsenal. The 0020 will still give you the reach, flow and power you need and it won't pull chems. smile
