How do you guys deal with exposed nails, screws, vents, etc. on roofs? How do you prevent them from rusting after being sprayed with the cleaning solution? Do you guys just rinse the area? I couldn't find any answers using the search button so I thought I'd ask.

Plumbing boots are typically one of the first places a roof will start leaking so we carry extra ones with us and just replace them if they are starting to crack around the pvc pipes. We also carry some Black Jack calking to cover every exposed nail, you can do this before cleaning just don't flood that area with solution and give it a light rinse. PS carry along plenty of raggs because this calk likes to keep coming out of the tube when you are finished and gets on everythig. Pat

Sherwin Williams sells dripless caulk guns that work great.

Dripless guns don't work for everything and especially roof caulk when it's warm. Instead of rags, 2" masking tape across the tip, down the sides and tape it together on the plastic tip. It works well for short storage.
