Great idea!! I'm a newcomer and would really appreciate all the information I can take from some of the Guru's of roof cleaning. I have a painting business and am thinking of expanding my business by adding roof and house cleaning.

That is a great idea Chris,..and it should slow down the "beginner" questions from the new guys. There is truly enough information here for anyone to start a qualified roof cleaning business without having to ask even one question.
Questions are good,..but the same questions always seem to arise,..what pump,..what hose,..how much...etc...
I personally find it more interesting to go through all the posts,...you never know what tidbits you may learn.
Jeff
Exactly, as we could easily say this hose and this pump, but there is more than one way to skin a cat. You have options and reading through allows you to explore those options.

This is true, if I had MY way, the newcomers would only read MY Threads, LOL Just Kidding of course, but it is always best to get several opinions, then do what seems right to you.

This is why I would think this is better suited for the premium side... Get more members, retain memberships, etc... If its all in one place I just think some will come read and leave.
although i'm not a paid member yet i do think this belongs in premium section due to like jo said, people just reading and leaving. i also agree with bill, there are alot of ways to skin a cat. this helps newbies make educated decisions in what they use and not just doing what they're told. it helps them know why they do certain things instead of just knowing they're supposed to. i know when i found rcia i had a ton of questions. i read and read and read and then started asking and though i haven't cleaned my first roof yet i feel that i am more than prepared to do the job and do it well thanks to you all and the rcia. and like jeff i really enjoy reading through everything. my girlfriend gets mad when i get on the pc cause she knows i'll be reading the rcia forum for a couple hours atleast lol. bottomline, i did the reading, they should too lol. ps hopefully i will be a paid member in the next couple weeks so i can come on over and see the goodies haha.

These guys who want it put in the premium section are exactly right. Making a topic just for the basics is like hand feeding a bunch of lazy wanna be roof cleaners,...they either want to be in the business or not.
I think they should either have to pay for the information with either a paid membership or at the very least, be made to dig up the information themselves.
I think we have a false sense that seems to make anyone who signs on to the site a good candidate for a roof cleaner. When in reality we know nothing about these newcomers' work ethics or anything else for that matter.
So why should ANY information be bundled up in a nice neat package for these guys.
I think it's a good idea,..but it needs to weed out the guys who don't have actual interest.

I agree with you. There is a incredible amount of knowledge with you guys. I think paying for it will weed out the riffraff. If someone is serious about learning a new trade or just expanding, as I am, then the premium member fee shouldn't be an issue. How do I sign up. Having a little problem figuring this out.
At present, please send your check to me. This will change in the near future.
Please include your email address, t-shirt size and telephone number when you send your check. If you have recently (last 2 weeks) sent a check to me for membership, please PM me the above info. Thanks Gary

Although I am not a member, yet, I too think this is a wise idea. If you're just dabling in the idea of getting into this arena, one can do the work to search for free. If you're really interested in information to get wise counsel and become a professional, then man up, pay to join, learn, do a good job, and then write it off on your taxes next year as a business expense.
