your thoughs on this pump from grainger

Not real familiar with the air pumps but it looks like it could be a decent pump. I tried to google this pump and didn't really find ant other major sellers. Usually if Grainger has it you can find it cheaper somewhere else.. Maybe one of the other air pump guys will chime in on it.

Here is what I found on the Santoprene material (the diaphragm)

Santoprene Chemical Resistance:
Santoprene is a thermoplastic rubber designed to offer chemical resistance equivalent to neoprene. It is resistant to a wide variety of solvents and chemicals. It is not readily soluble in common solvents but will swell in aromatic solvents and halogenated organic solvents.

High polar fluids such as alcohols, ketones, glycols, esters, and aqueous solutions of acids, salts, and bases have little effect upon Santoprene rubber. Weight changes in these fluids are less than 10%, and physical property changes are minimal.

It will work just fine Chris. It also has very good suction lift ratings, important when you pull out of the top of your tank.
I know a guy who buys pumps from Grainger, and when they fail, takes em back and gets a new one roof cleaning

Of course, he rinses the bleach smell out first.

Buy it. I bought a Wilden poly pump as a spare on ebay for $185 and it has worked great. We cracked it one day from it falling off the trailer over and over again. It was actually the first one we used till we got the All-flo and we have used it as a spare when needed. Poly pumps are fine, the body should be thick and your holding tanks are poly as well. With everyone proving that your not going to get 5 years out of a pump anyway if used daily, you might just want to use poly pumps after all. You can get decent poly pumps for under $200 all day long on ebay and that makes them cheap throw away-s like any electric pump!!

There are materials to avoid, but as stated before the santoprene is the best bang for your buck and it's inexpensive. Download an SH compatibility chart, easily found from thousands of sources with a simple google search and start buying cheap pumps instead of making the mistake I feel that I did of buying them at $400-$500. Seriously, go to ebay, you will find lot's of cheap AODs. I have an all-flo, we just replaced the diaphragms with new Teflon diaphragms (almost $100), and it has a new air valve assembly ($25). You will see it on ebay soon. I bet you can get it under $200 as well, lol.

Here is feedback from my guys and me about pumps. Sometimes we feel it is best to use them, and throw away when done. Rebuilds are time consuming and sometimes expensive, especially a complete rebuild.
And unless a complete rebuild is done, the pumps never seem to spray like a new one will.
Currently, I have a pure Hastelloy one inch pump just waiting for it's monster air compressor. IT will be worth rebuilding, when the time comes, since it is a one inch pump, and made out of Hastelloy.
It has so much flow, we have to restrict it by various means.
On a big commercial job with gutters, it will allow us to literally fly, but for everyday residential it presents no advantages, other then it LOOKS cool.
All things being equal, the bigger the air diapraghm pump is, the slower it moves to pump an equivalent volume of fluid.
Small 3/8 pumps are going whoop whoop whoop whoop, 1/2 inch pumps go whoop whoop whoop, and one inch pumps go whoop every 5 to 10 seconds because their larger diapraghms are just loafing at the low flow rates roof cleaners require.
This means they will last longer!
Do not be "scared" of a one inch pump guys, it will run just fine on a smaller compressor like a Rigid Wheelbarrow type with a 5 horse motor.
No, with the smaller compressors, the one inch pumps will not acheive the 49 GPM they are capable of with a 20 plus CFM Compressor, but so what ?
They will still do 10 plus GPM with the smaller compressors, and last far longer.

Just running it with the Rigid now, got a big Belaire Compressor of 18.7 CFM to go on it soon.
It just sits there and Farts every 5 to 10 seconds, it is just loafing with a 4gpm nozzle.
It came with a muffler, LOL and it sounds like it is farting, so I may just take the dam muffler off.

Before buying look into the Flojet G57 Bob at Pressure Tek sells. It isn't but about 45.00 dollars more. To me it is worth that to have the customer service that Bob provides. I have always found Grainger to be over priced. An example would be 3m resporators they were almost twice as high as online

pressure washer products all-flo air pump $385 plus shipping around about $425-450

Then you have graingers pump cost $162 plus will not cost any thing to ship when grainger is one town over from me

can some tell me what one is has better cost? I have nothing bad to say about pressurestek and pressure washer products but when I am looking at my budget grainger pump great buy.

I think Pressure Tek uses Flat rate shipping. To mississippi it's around 11.00 I am getting ready to order some extra barb fittings because through Friday they're offering free shipping

I have never used the one from PTek, but it's cheap enough for me to rate as disposable and I think that's what they all are in the end.

LOL, seriously, that is exactly what it sounds like! The flow ratings on roof cleaning pumps can be misleading, and some companies flat LIE, and some really DO deliver the goods. Grainger is pretty good about taking stuff back if it does not do the job for you.

Chris, why not TRY it, and if it does not work, run some Pine Sol and water through it and return it ? NEVER ever mention bleach or chlorine run through a pump. It looks an awful lot like a Versa Matic Pump, that Warren Rupp had made for them.

I think it actually is, but who really cares ? Just be sure Grainger will stand behind it if it does not work out for you. I can not imagine it will not work, and 5 GPM is adequate for roof cleaning, considering millions of roofs have been cleaned with 3.8 GPM 12 volt flojets and shurflo's.

Grainger is great! But like the convience store we don't buy are milk and bread there unless we are in a hurry. Grainger if your in a pinch get it, otherwise shop elsewhere. Over the years one great thing about Grainger is they have it!!
