As for Dans original thread and you guys defending it.
THAT is the reason pressure washing and roof cleaning is looked at as nothing more than a lawn service. We are not regarded as true professionals, Because most in this industry are not. I'm not sure who moved it, but I'm glad they did.
What Scott said. Sometimes it isn't just about the quality of work. Someone can be the very best at what they do but if they are perceived as being a hack that is what they are.{in the customers eyes} The public stereotypes all industry. Examples would be : Painters are drunks and dope heads, car salesman are liars and crooks, and so on. I have done both of those and have never been any of the perceived notions mentioned. However I had to go out of my way to maintain an image different from the stereotype. I understand about the truck breaking down and doing what one has to do to support their family but there could have been a more professional looking way to complete the job. I am the only one in my area that is pushing roof cleaning as their main service. But with that I know that the image I project to the customer will not only effect me and my sales but also the other new businesses that develop as public awareness of roof cleaning in my area grows. The way I see it is one or two people have a problem with something it is probably just their opinion but if several seasoned pros say the same thing it might be worth swallowing my pride and paying attention to.

It wasn't so much "supporting" Dan. It was more about something that started here. Something that really should have been posted in the shade but, since it wasn't it was taken and posted at PWI to do what? Make us/him look bad to the pressure washers? To humiliate him? Is this all about kicking a man when he's down? When I joined there were only a few weeks of good weather left and thanks to a moderator/certified cleaner, I was able to put something together that surely didn't look like that but wasn't nearly as high tech as others. Without that help, I'd still be trying to get it all together. Supporting and helping is what I found when I joined (aside from learning that search was a well used word). I know where I won't be doing business and spending my money in the future. You know very well who moved it as it shows on the post.

I don't see any thing wrong with not having the best equipment as long as it is in your heart to be the best roof cleaner you can be while working within ones budget.
Clyde his point was it looks bad. It doesn't mean you can't do it or be proud or any of that. It means that people will now trash talk us and Dan and are in fact doing so. I agree with you, nothing wrong with getting it done. But there is something wrong with knowing that it will cause trouble for him and us and just ignoring it. People are mean, the best we can do is try and prevent baiting the mean people.
Just like we all know that the president uses the bathroom, but we don't put pictures of that on the web as it would be embarrassing for him and make him an object of ridicule. It's the same thing here. It's that people like to trash other people when given the chance. Makes them feel real big and important as if they didn't use the bathroom, but look at this guy!! I bet you that if any one of the guys that made fun of him were on a job and had lots of $$ to be lost and only had a chance to get it done that day, they would have scraped together whatever it would take to get it done. I have worked on jobs that many of you could only imagine. I have seen people use things you would consider unprofessional on pieces of equipment worth more than AC's shop when it was at it's peak. Truth is, money is money. If money is at risk than we get the job done. I have seen concrete poors with deaths and I have seen 120ft. lifts with chewing gum and duck tape repairs. I have seen pools of oil next to the Chesapeake bay in a 10 foot hole 30yds from the bay and had inspectors tell me that it met the EPA requirements when the facility changed hands.
The truth is Dan's image is getting played over there. The guys that say they would never do that are either unaware of the real world of industry or they think that their audience is. I have never worked for a successful company that would not do whatever it takes to legally finish a job over the option of losing money. So yeah if I had a hundred guys and they were on the biggest roof in the world and their tanks all were ruptured. I would tell the lead tech to guy to buy some trash cans, so they could keep working while the new tanks came in.

That may be true but you can bet they didnt take pix and blow them all over. I have done ALOT of crazy stuff in my past when I worked for a custom farmer. Sometimes you have to take initive and get r done thats what gets you ahead but in essance bragging about it kicks you back a couple steps. Just my $.02
i love you guys merry merry christmas !i look foward to a great new year off creative posts to get everyones panties in a ruffel
Dan maybe you should take time to read all the previous post.
I don't think RCIA wants you posting un-professional material again. It is one thing to do what you gotta do to get the job done, but its another thing to ruffle their panties?

I started with a 35 gallon trash can. 1500 psi washer and Albertson's bleach. Yall know how that ended up:) I hope it ends for you as well as it did for me.
I just think the (350 quote turned to 500) segment was not acceptable on the OPEN forum. A customer could have seen that and got turned off to our association.
In the 50 point standard that rig would have been RCIA APPROVED! Isn't that a hoot!
