I for one would never go to a church and put flyers on the cars in the parking lot. People would be furious. And they would let everyone know what the name of the company was that did it. You would ruin your company name with people in the church, and everyone they know. Even people that do not go to church would not like to hear about a company that does this. I for one never work on Sunday. That is the day the lord set aside for us to rest, and spend time getting closer to him. I believe if you take the time for him, he will bless you more than anything you could do by yourself.
Dave, why would it make you angry to find a flyer on your car after church? The church actually asks you for money while you're there. All we'd be doing is making you aware that we exist.....and in a very non intrusive way.
This is somewhere that you just don't go. I am not a bible thumper, far from it. I can out- cuss sailors and make a marine blush, but I would never bring advertising to a church parking lot. If you don't understand this, why not hang out at the cemetery and put flyers on the cars at the funeral? Hell, there's lots of them. Wouldn't everyone be excited to see that they could have their roof cleaned by a respected professional? There are boundaries in society and you may need to learn them.
I just don't understand that you don't understand.

We've only worked on a couple of Sunday's doing commercial businesses that are only closed on that day. I personally don't recommend it. My staff doesn't like and wouldn't think the neoghbors would be real pleased either.

Wow I'm surprised more people don't work weekends. We work mostly outside in the summer and if we get a few days of rain during the week causing us not to work; of course I'm going to work the weekend.

Theres always exceptions. especially when it comes to customer service.
I planned to clean a big tile roof on a Saturday, but the customer stopped us, wanted a re shcedule to Sunday instead (He was a 7th Day Adventist) and Saturday was Holy to him ! He asked us if we felt Saturday was a day of rest ? I told him "Hell Yeah, since we do most of our partying Friday nights"

I have cleaned a lot of roofs on Sundays. In the past 3 years, I have only ever had one person ask me not to do work on a Sunday. My customers have been more than welcoming when I have shown up on a Sunday. Most times they offer me food or drink because they feel sorry for me that I am working 7 days a week. My guys never complain about Sunday work. They often times get tips on Sundays for the same reason.
I routinely give estimates on Sundays. I have had many customers ask me to come on Saturday or Sunday so that they could be there to meet me in person.
There is an approach and method to disturbing anyone at their home on any day. You can certainly be respectful and professional in your approach and get a feel for the person's demeanor when they answer the door.
If you need the work, don't have the extra funds to spend on advertising and Sunday is the only day available to you to solicit customers, then that is what you are going to have to do. You may have some people that get mad, but you may get some of that work that you desperately need. You do what you need to do to pay the bills.
My two cents.

In residentail up north when we have 3-4 months of busy time you have to work Sundays to make money. What I'm saying is if you want to max out your goals and make money when you can you work every day.
I know some very Godly men that work on Sundays after Church when it is necessary, I also know Christians that are cops, doctors, nurses, and they all work on Sundays. Do they want to, I don't think so, but they have to.
God know who you worship him or money.
