...My Certified Kentucky post? Why was this post deleted? And who deleted it?
Four members have registered the RCIA as a FOR PROFIT enterprise.
One of them is a vendor.
Hello Doug, Profit is NOT a Dirty Word, we all need to turn a profit to survive. I assure you, no one is "getting rich" off the RCIA, and even if we did, who cares ?
If the information here was not worth it, no one will pay anyway.
And yes, AC is a vendor, no one is hiding that. Did you know that the PWNA was started by a Vendor ? The original forum of this industry, the old Delco Board, was started by a Vendor. The UAMCC was also started by a Vendor too. As long as any Vendor who is on the board of the RCIA discloses it, and is treated just like any other Vendor, do you still see a Conflict ?

I agree Chris. AC has offered me advice to better my business and has not asked anything in return. Profit is a good thing.

Huge conflict if a vendor has any input as to what the RCIA molds as its certification requirements or public stance on how Professional roof cleaning should be done. Any input by a vendor with a profit motive, in the end, may not support what a Contractor Based Org decides is BMP for Roof Cleaning and cast vote against or sway others to adopt different methods. Vendors role in any org that claims to be for the contractor should remain as advertisor only. No editorial functions at all when writing the policies or certifications. It will certainly be interesting to see how the certifications are written as well as RCIA's public stance on what it suggests to potential customer on what fits as a qualified professional roof cleaner.

Hmmm? Just playing devils advocate. What if to be certified, you had to take AC wilderness thing and could only use his products. Had to purchase his rig. Alot like roof shampoo.
Thats going wayyyyy out there. That could never happen?
Wow you guys are Some Low Ballers this site has provided so much useful info for free whats so hard about giving back and becoming a Paid Member you should be Proud to call your self a Paid member of RCIA anyways
How is somebody a lowballer, if they are waiting to see what comes out in the ways of certification requirements. Are they going to be very lax and anyone can qualify with a check, or are they going to be ridiculously restrictive? That's what some of us are waiting to see. Too lax and your neighbor can have the same certificate as you, lessing it's value. And too restrictive, it will reak of too much outside involvement.
Just so you understand who I am, along with Bill Booze and some others, I am on the certification committee for PWNA. I am trying to do my little part to help our industry too. But you can be sure I won't be quiet if PWNA starts to err toward high pressure nor be quiet if I see RCIA start a public campaign stating Pros put algicides and other ****amamee stuff in our mixes. Like I said, there is possible conflict having a vendor that sell additives and equipment on a board with voting power. What is the vendors vote if the board wants to state that a pump up sprayer is acceptable for Professional Roof Cleaning method? Cry foul? Again, some of us are waiting to see how things play out. I respect the guys here, but not sending in a check that only amounts to a steak dinner on a Thursday, does not mean we have ill feelings. Sad thing is... I'm sure there are some with a "Certificate" that think they can out clean me because I don't have one. Really sad.

Travis, 100 bucks doesn't necessarily give you the privilege of blowing chit to a guy who has paid dues that you evidently don't understand or respect. Chill out, grasshopper. Paid membership has only been around a few days.

Michael, I hear you and understand what you are saying, but please $100.00 is nothing at this stage to help this board get going. I don't think there will come a time where RCIA will tell you who to buy from, but I bet there will be company's on here giving us great service along with some discount.I don't call people "lowballers " who have not joined, that's not a lowballer. I will refrain from making a comment about any person, who has taken any amount of information from this site and benifited from it. To make along story short I knew this method of roof cleaning before I joined RCIA.But I have benifited from RCIA and some of the guidance I have received from it's members I could never put a price tag on. So Mike I also will watch where this site is headed and if it's down the wrong path I can always leave,But for now I see a bright future and believe my $100.00 will come back ten fold.
I 100%, as Ive always said, I Love the RCIA!!!! Chris you have made a difference in my life.
The senerio I pointed out earlier, was wayyy out there. I explained it that way so most, if not all could understand. What I was understanding what Mike said. He makes a good point!
We are savy business owners. Mike K. has been around longer than most, in the washing business. He Seen alot more than most of us.
Chris had a flock of guys following him around 24-7. In Tampa. I didnt want to be one of those guys. I did once walk up and introduce myself. Hung out. The conversation at the time was one I could participate in, and I did.
I sat next to AC in Tampa one day. Another amazing person. The best I could do was introduce myself! LOL!! Totally in awe of that dude! Alot of big dudes there, same thing! My first real RT!
A system of checks and balances, I feel is in place. Thats a good thing for the body of the RCIA. The body of the RCIA IS the RCIA.
You can be a king or a president, and if nobody follows you. What are you really king or president of?
With this system of checks and balances I feel the RCIA has. We will be ok.
WHERE HAS THIS THREAD GONE? It started out being about a post getting deleted in the directory, due to changes going into effect regarding membership.
Then it went to somebody running their mouth about RCIA being incorporated as a for profit Corporation.
Then it went to complaints about having a vendor on the board and critizing the work being done on the certification plan, which nobody outside of the board knows anything about.
Then it went to a very junior member calling people "lowballers" and his post getting deleted in an effort to prevent the drama that followed.
And now it is here with me trying to keep the peace. Gentlemen, I hope you realize that this is a much more pleasant place to come to if everyone would think before they start typing. Comments that are made on specific topics that are only personal feelings and have no documentation really serve no purpose other than to flame up tempers and start trouble. We don't need that in here. Thanks for your understanding. Gary
We should all build a bon fire and stand around it holding hands singing camp songs.
Nawwwwww....it'll never happen.I agree with MK about the vendor statuts.AC may not be a bad person, but rest assured it gives the appearance of insider advantages.
But then again I haven't paid any dues so my $.02 most likely isn't worth anything. The one thing I have noticed about this site is a bunch of guysi n business 1 or 2 years who think they know it all and don't hestitate to tell experienced contractors the who, what's and how's of roof cleaning.

Sqirtgun!
I heard of you. We may have talked. Thank you for joining in.

I guarantee you that would do more for the membership of RCIA than the constant bickering over topics that are just personal opinions. But then again, that is just MY personal opinion.
