Just got my Ipad today. I have put some pics on and they really look great. I think this is a great way to show customers before and after pics. Great tool to leave with homewoner while you look at roof to give an estimate. I feel like a litte kid at Christmas with a new toy!
I love my ipad for presentations. Its smaller, lighter, crisper images, and its shiny and new so most customer s are in aww of it. Laptops work well too, its just a different avenue.
What other advantages does the Ipad have over a laptop. We use our laptop. We can go to the truck and print instant quotes. Ipad can't print can it?
The iPad eliminates the need to print quote. We explain that we are going green and paperless. They sign the iPad and we instantly email them the quote/contract. But there are apps that allow you to print from a wifi printer. The iPad is awesome. There are great apps for biz. Great looking presentations. Forms look better. I even homeschool my son with the cool apps I can get.

We have been using the iPad for 3 months now. customers love looking at pictures on it. Once we are finished with the presentation I then enter the dimensions into a spreadsheet and give an estimate. Then open the calendar program ( we are using informant HD ) and schedule the appointment this automatically syncs with my phone and computer. When the job is completed I add a task to the calendar program to contact the people again at a given date.
I just added a mobile wireless hotspot to my phone so no I can start printing invoices or estimates from the iPad (this was cheaper than buying the ipad3g )
Mike what app are you using to have people sign directly on the iPad? I have looked at them but haven't found one I like.

I've taken my lil Evo and shown pics, and played some of our videos for them. People are impressed! A larger Ipad would be better. I have a netbook collecting dust.
I guess it would be kinda silly to say this is the wave of the future. That's a direct quote from Captain Obvious. Thinking ahead to future marketing, it is a good idea to publish your pictures into .epub format. You can then upload them to major sites to sell. You can put a link on your home page:
Click here to view our free e-book picture portfolio!
If you title the book correctly and put it in the right places, it will be another way to dominate local SERP's.
Adobe CS5 is the standard for setting up a graphic ebook but the program is around $600 I believe. I found a free source that allows you to make an e-book and save it in the .epub format. The site also lets you upload it to book sellers and make it public on their server. The site is:

Scott, put your pictures into a publishable e-book format and get it onto the internet.
Dominating SERP's means you have as many results showing up on a search page result as is possible.
ie don't just think of your ipad photo presentation as something you have to be in front of customers to market.
Not sure what else you are asking but i will do my best to clarify specific questions.

Ken,
Your co is built in a web Platform. These guys are up selling in the field, the Ipad give them the ability to do this easilly.
The Ipad is a real salesmens tool for the future and when you get stuck behind the curve you will also have one. LOL
Imagine a Presentation to your customers from your salespeople Ken, the message you want to get accross and not what your sales people make up. Imagine how strong that could make your sales force.
Ken protable electronic devices are the wave or the future. Soon the web will be viewed by protable devices 85% of the time. I myself already use mine half the time.
Texting will explode in the near future and if your not on board and starting your current customers on it your foolish.
Web based Companies are the future , fourtune 500 will remain direct sales and shows. Relationships will always win over number one on Google.
Ken you have good advice but the IPAD is closing out people who are not carrying them, these guys are separating themselves from the Fly by nights with a Website. Scott and others here are showing and up selling people here they are in this for the long haul.
Good luck trying to get that women or man while standing at the door or at the coffee shop to view your website after they get home. These guys are armed and dagerous 24 hours a day with a 3 of 4g ipad.

Thats is a Good Idea, keep in mind that some of these guys are using IPAD with no web Service.
Here another problem, everytime I get into a three storie building built of steel and concrete i loose service. Have it on the site is a great idea, but you need it actually on the Ipad as well. Do not rely on Service at a criticle time. Signals often are not strong at those moments.

I do agree the iPad is very useful in the field for selling the customer in person. We have been using laptop tablets for years and they help with selling and ease of contracts, accounting, processing and such. On the other hand texting will always be opt in and will be governed very closely as carriers will drop keys if in violation. I think the best thing to do is for people to make there website wap compatible and cross browser compatible and not worry about texting for the roof cleaning industry.
Me for one use an iPad and there are some drawbacks but overall is good. The next version will be better and have more to offer.
