Gary: for those of us who are ignorant about tagging posts with keywords ( like me), could you give a quick run down on that? I think I do it, but I'm not sure.

Gary: for those of us who are ignorant about tagging posts with keywords ( like me), could you give a quick run down on that? I think I do it, but I'm not sure.
Whenever you start a new thread(new subject matter) there is an area below where you enter the text of the new thread. Its says something about tags. you enter the keywords in there( such as; roof cleaning rcia, roof cleaning louisville ky,roof cleaning qwik roof cleaners. You need to end each keyword group with a comma and no space after the comma. 3 or 4 keyword groups are plenty. If you notice in the listing of topics in the open forum you can see which posts are tagged right after the headings. Anybody else have any info on this? Gary
In fact if you go look at the "recent posts", on the first page out of all those topics I think there is about 3 that have tags. If they all did the rankings for RCIA and whoever posted them would increase. Gary
Gary I have 2 suggestions. Move the button for the paid members only forum to the top. Instead of charging vendors, have them donate items to be raffled off to the paid members and or charge them less for donating.
A tab with the addresses of the BOD & moderators would be nice to have. Right now I have an idea I'd like to send out to all the BOD, an easy tab would be great.
Also, if we can deveop a "referrral center", ( which is basically our directory) for members, that wouls sseriously imporve our credibilty, and add a "value added service" for member recruitment.
Only members should be listed in the directory.

Most sites let you upload pics & videos from your computer. NOT RICA!!! We have to upload pics from a website. Why? I found that Ihad exceeded the limit of my website when I tried to change my signature pic here. I am in the process of finding a new web hosting company. In the meantime I can not fix my signature.

something is wrong Marcus, I upload from my computer all the time
This is where you can get your questions answered (for the most part) and offer suggestions on what should be added or deleted to RCIA. Any suggestions offered should also be accompied by your reasoning as to why this is necessary. All offered suggestions will be investigated and answered. POST AWAY!!
Will there be advertisements? If so who what and where?
I am for advertisements because it will fund the RCIA and help us with things like membership benefits and all.
I am however against "the man" so its a tough topic.
Maybe a good idea to entice new membership by having a home page rolling flash of paid members' logo's?
Jerry,
The current platform for this BB doesnt allow for banner ads etc. We are looking at new options including a home page and new forum platform.
I'm sorry I haven't been logged in for a few days. I would not like to see the search tab moved to members only because I feel new customers would not be able to locate me in our area because I'm not certified yet (my company is not in the certified roof cleaning New York section). A future customer can type "roof cleaning Rochester, NY" into the search tab and my company will show up.

How about deleting the "In the shade", now that we have this section for members only?

If we deleted "in the shade", non-paid guests would have NO WHERE to post their topics that do not belong in areas accessabile to the general public. Even now there are people that post stuff that belongs in the shade and it ends getting moved there due to content. Got to have somewhere for the "hard headed to roam! Gary

And every "low ball hacker" can come on here and steal all the info they need to cut your throat with the search bar out in the open. Should be a "members only" feature. Look at the past to predict the future. With the economy the way it is, its getting worse. Gary

Isn't that the truth brother. Everybody is a painter; maybe 1 in 20 actually know what they're doing. So many low ballers, that's what great about this business. Up here it's relatively new and most people don't know about it.

Gary, why are we worried about the non-paid guests posting area? If they post stuff that doesn't belong in the open, just send them a note and delete the post. Our goal would be to "convert" the non-paid guests to paid members.

You are correct in wanting to convert them, but we still need to protect the image of RCIA. This is why we just added the mods to help "police" the posts on this board. With all the mods and ex. members keeping an eye out, we are pretty well covered, but there are still times when none of them are online and off-color posts appear, which can be viewed by "customers" and others. Not good for the image. Everyone's help will be much appreciated if you all can also watch for these type posts and notify a mod if you find one. We will all benefit. Thanks Gary
If this has already been brought up or otherwise discussed, I apologize for being repetitive:
For the Board's consideration, I strongly suggest that the term and section referred to as 'paid member' be dropped immediately and replaced with something that
a) can be branded and is portrayed/marketed as a premium membership
b) eliminates the inference to monies paid (currently it conjures up the wrong image, especially given the challenge in getting more folks to sign up).
Some examples from the Airline industry that could be more palatable, if not helpful:
RCIA Platinum Member
RCIA Platinum Plus Member
RCIA Bronze Member
etc
Then we tout the benefits of being a (Insert Name here) Member, vs a PAID member. It takes all of the focus off of $$ and places it on membership of an industry leading organization.
The closed section concept needs to be sold softly, just like most of us sell our highly specialized (and profitable services. Simply branding it should help immensely. It won't solve everything, but it could very well be helpful to the RCIA in the long term.
