Need advice from house wash gurus!

I let the homeowner know that those sticky remnants will not come off. There is no chemical I have found to soften them or make them come off. The only recourse is scraping and repainting.

I was afraid of that answer. I'm the homeowner so that's not a huge deal, I was just hoping to minimize my costs and get it on the market quicker. Thank you for your advice though.

what type of siding is it?

The vine prints are a pain and if its hardi fiber cement siding, we sand a little and paint.

It's Hardi Cedar Mill lap siding. We were able to get it off the brick just fine but it took hold in the siding like you wouldn't believe.

i seen it before but dont know how to get if of cedar without damage. sorry.

I'm not sure if the cedar mill is treated any different than the plank, but here is their technical bulletins. Page 5 is the cleaning page

Is is prefinished or painted onsite?
If you had a soda blaster that would help out, but if you don't the try some artillary fungus remover.

Vines and shotgun fungus seem to have the same type of kungfu grip.

I was also going to say some sort of enzyme cleaner and let it sit for a while but or something like that which can literally eat the vines if you have a few days but why don't you try an all in one acid, that should do it just be careful

If you tie those vines to your truck and the vines have a good grip on the house, you can actually move the whole house. Hahaha! Good luck getting them off. They are a major PITA. I normally just leave them.

Thank you Buck's! I have access to a soda blaster so I'll give that a try tomorrow. It's preprimed and it was a foreclosure I bought so it was pretty neglected and probably needs a good paint job anyhow.

Awesome! Soda blaster is the bomb, actually if you are painting it I might use a different media like walnut shells. That will get them off for sure. If you can't get your hands on walnut shells start chewing some sunflower seeds.

That brings up another idea
You don't have access to a dry ice blaster do you? becuase if you do then you have the exact perfect easiest tool for the job. As long a you are repainting ofcourse because dry ice blasters blow exterior caulk into next year.

I'm not sure about the dry ice blaster or the different shells etc. A good friend does mold remediation and he's got the equipment. I'll have to ask him about what's available.

As for now I'm liking Larry's idea, I might just over insure it and wrap the vines around my bumper and away we go! =)

Ya I think your gonna get them off without going to extremes. I've seen alot of remnants of vines over the years and never found away to get them off.
