Ed the only thing about the green wash and the plant wash is in the winter will I have to bring my own water to the location. On another one of your comments,I can't believe how many homes I did this year because of Insurance companies. Last year I did about seven this year I had to do at least twenty.

Bringing you own water would be your choice Pat and depending on your setup. What I'm told is that the Greenwash will fire up the SH and make it usable under 42F. What would make an issue out where you get your water from? Most people will not want you to unwinterize outside faucets to get water. I would imagine if the customer really needs the roof clean they would allow you to get water from a utility sink if they have a utility faucet with a hose connector, or you can run a hose to a washing machine connection, or you can run directly to the water heater drain kok. If you use a water heater drain you better have caps with hose style connections because 9X out of 10 it will not shut properly.

Why Insurance Companies. Are some companies insisting that homeowners clean their roofs?

Yes Doug. Its the greatest thing since sliced bread. It legitimizes our service. New Jersey Manufactures Insurance is the main one. people choose them for a better rate but they have to bring the home up to par. There's usually no quibble or no shopping for these people. They just do it.

thanks for reminding me Ed, I need to go buy a 1000 gallon water tank today, oh gee I think i will need a much bigger truck too, oh boy this is getting expensive, but were roof cleaners we got the green. lol

Clyde we dont clean roofs, we treat them. Non-pressure. No huver covers. Remeber the kid in SC who pressure washes roofs with no pressure. I said "so when you pull the trigger, nothing comes out?"

Even with an SH booster in Florida when it gets below freezing at night we have to wait until around 10 to start spraying. The ambient air temp is one thing but hitting a frozen surface or nearly frozen is a different animal. Last winter was an unusually cold one in florida and we had to delay some mornings. Not sure you would ever warm up enought to go all season in a harsh winter region

Well thats what AC is selling. He is so confident he labeled it "Winter Blend". Yes it is yet to be seen. I personally have faith in the guy. Enough so that I purchased some greenwash at the show. It is yet to be delivered or charged to my card, and at this point I doubt it will. you cant always be the guy to wait for everyone to experiment. sometimes you have to be the guy. If it ever comes and I get calls in the freezing, I will be charging a premium (2x) and I will let everyone know if it works.

how late in the year do you usually clean?

I was not full time last winter but I did get some calls that I didnt entertain. I was just to busy with other projects and unfortunately I just let them go. But this year my name is out a little stronger so I expect to get a few calls. I have stomped around in the snow to wash a house but never yet a roof. If its freezing it is unlikely anyone one will do the job. I want to be the go-to guy and like I said I will make it worth my while. If someone calls, you know they really need it. Would someone pay $1200.00 or more to clean an average size roof if it means a quick home sale? I dont know either. I guess we'll find out.

Man I'm glad I live in the south. It's 89 degrees outside today. We had 2 roofs and a house wash today and I did 5 estimates and my office lady set up 3 more for Monday. We don't have a "cleaning season".

I believe Tony with Ridgeway worked with an industry giant for a LONG time, if Tony's the same one I'm thinking of. :). If so, I can believe he's booked up a couple months.
