Sunbrite supply sells Items for that, also you can use a weekend roof washing mix to clean the composite decking with, I do it all the time. Envirospec sells a house wash that can be mixed with the SH called emulsifier, it works good for house washing and for composite deck cleaning.

do you just let the weakened roof mix set on it or do you do a pressure rinse?

Never pressure wash a composite deck it will mess it up, just set and rinse, may take a few times, also go to pressure washing institue, they are more for pressure washing since this is a roof cleaning base forum, but if needed just email me or private message.

Thanks, I will PM you. The reason I brought it up here is because I over sprayed and spotted the trex deck.  i should of said that to begin with.  I didnt know if the SH would be bad to use on the rest of the deck to clean it or if there was a better mix to use specially for that?

You can use the Roof mix or water it down a bit and spray the trex decking. Let it dwell for about 10-15 min or so and follow up with a lite rinse. It will clean up nicely. Just stay away from using any real high pressure on it. I Clean them this way all the time and they turn ot great.

We just use our house wash mix for Trex decks. Then rinse off with low pressure. Have never had a problem with this method

I love Envirospec, and have used emulsifier+, it's a great product.

For those decks and furniture, keeping them soaked while you work and having a ground person rinse them as chem makes contact will help you avoid this situation.

You can tarp them, but if chem gets trapped under the tarp it will cause clean spots you won't notice till it is too late.

Remember the roof solution will make clean spots on wood and concrete almost instantly if it hits them when they are dry.

Over spray should never happen.  I agree, especially with how thorough it has been covered here and I even spent time with Bill Booze prior to starting my business.  It was a tough 12/12 and no good access point with a ladder, terrible water pressure, I am new, my ground guy is new etc etc.  I should of had sprinklers running on the back deck, no question about it...

I explain to the H/O that his deck is dirty and I offer to clean it for him and if he declines I tell him I will do my best to not spot it, but no promises.

I mean give me a break the deck needs cleaned, tell them to clean it.

One thing it keep in mind, when your doing the roof if they do have a deck of any type and wood fencing on either side have your ground guy soak those areas with water before you even start, this will help with the spotting and only go as fast as your ground guy can move. Let your ground guy know when your moving from one side to the other, or just let him or her know what side our starting on and which direction you will be going, that should help out with the over spray.

I usually wet down the decks and then tarp them. Rinse again when done. Sometimes I just offer a great deal on the roof, house and deck so I don't have so much to worry about. It makes the whole job look great and you get paid a little more for what you may already be doing. Hope this helps!

We do maybe 150 per year and the preferred method is bucket and brush. Brushing is the only thing that gets down deep and kills all of the mold (though it may appear clean at the surface. It requires minimum equipment (one guy brings materials with a length of garden hose over his shoulder) and its fast. Its also an easier sell for maximum margin because people love the idea of manually brushing. It makes them feel like they are getting what they are paying for. I get about $1/sf with rails being $5/LF. Mix is Pressure Tek's Simple Cherry and 3% solution of sodium hypochlorite.

+1 Bill. We did a house wash and the back screened in patio had siding we washed right next to wood. We rinsed the wood first and used a brush to get the soap on the siding, j channels and all. Came out perfect. No clean spots on the wood trim.

When we wash next to a deck. Just pre rinse the deck. And keep rinsing it. Same with roof over spray.

Washing roofs, We change the nozzle setting to mist. And get close to the edge when walkable, and use the same setting near skylights. Your angle and setting of spray is important because that is where and how far your over spray will go.

ALWAYS be aware of where your over spray is going and pre rinse if necessary.

I have washed several trex decks. Use about 10% solution and lots of soap. The key is the dwell time. Let it set for 20+ minutes and give the sauce time to work. Don't use pressure.

I did a roof and house wash this summer and I set my soap bucket on the deck. Somehow a little spilles and made a ring. I didnt say anything about it but just started talking to they guy about all the mold on his deck. Long story short I upsold a small trex deck for $20 so thats always a option also

Ray, are your after pictures before a rinse? I only ask because there appears to be a good amount of mold still showing.
