Bed rail

I'm blessed to just work on the roofing set-ups and not really pushing the sale of my rig, I decided to mess with it a bit.

Bed rails, yes the guys on a budget can find these anywhere and they can help you move items up on your rig set-ups.

Ladder holders, tank holders, pipe/plumbing holders, etc...you get the picture, get it off the floor and up out of the way.

If you don't know how to weld(me either) just bolt it up.

I did buy a cheap HF welder and am getting better at it every time I use it.

Anyway I will post some pictures, hope it helps someone out there.

Peace

Bed rails are a GREAT idea, and a lot cheaper than angle iron these days! You could weld those into a respectable ladder rack in a heartbeat

I found a set of bed rails on the side of the road, many people toss them out, heck you can get a set from Goodwill for about $8-$10, cheaper if you bargain.

Anyway here's what I got so far.

Pump in the box was moved up on its side, I welded a bracket and used plywood to hold the pipe, which is now up out of the way.

I gained a good amount of space which can be used for a smaller tank, totes, etc...

I never throw bed rails away or let anyone else,.Ha,Ha...,..they are decent weight angle and can be easily stored till needed. Welding is a trade anyone in these type business's should have under their belt. Sometimes a 2" weld will save the day,...and it sucks having to take it to a shop or friend with a welder.
I like that blue PVC,...is it painted or do you buy it that way? I use PVC for a lot of places where rust might be an issue,....I just paint to match.

Jeff,

I painted the PVC, primer stains all over the pipe were bugging me-LOL...anyway you are correct about knowing welding, I never learned it until last year..boy was I missing out on the things you can do........... I repaired small items using my $100.00 mig from Harbor Freight...so its paid for itself, ugly welds though.....

I want to buy the stick welder they have, some welders claim its a great little machine, if you use coupons you can get it for a great price.

Yes bed rails are a great way to save some much needed $$$.

Peace

Excellent job setting that up. Looks great and I love the way you maximized space. Really like how you ran your pvc pipe and valves on the outside like that.

Tony, Great Post!  I once made the mistake of throwing away perfectly good metal bed frame pieces in sight of my father.  He told me that our customers could use them in a pinch if he need to make a bracket.

I love breaking out the welder for a little recreational time! The pix look great - I like how you took the time to paint your pipes. My sealer stains have been bugging ma also but dont have time to deal with it

As odd as it sounds,..Chet is right,...or at least I agree with him about welding being recreational,...I love to weld things up,..I'm sure you're all familiar with the auto-darkening helmets,...money well spent and will make a beginning welders' life a lot easier,...especially when doing things where you need to see and use both hands at the same time.

You can do almost anything with a grinder, some cutting wheels and a welder.

The bed rails are a great idea, I know I can find some as we wer just talking about fabbing a ladder rack.
There might be a set or two at my mothers house.  Nothing like welding and fabbing something up...saving money on your raw materials makes it even better
