this is from texasroofclean.com site... he is using the hose and attachment to remove the algae... a previous poster said he does great work... what chemicals is this guy using
Most "chlorine free" products use Sodium Hydroxide.
It'll eat the flesh of your arm in strong enough concentrations and it isn't "better" for the enviroment.

I did also spend the money on a pitch witch probably about 4 years ago, like Scott, even got the fiberglass telescoping pole with it. Both are in my warehouse collecting dust, since I came here and learned the right way to clean roofs and stopped trying all those bs roof cleaners that mainly say low pressure required for cleaning I haven't turned back from the way I do it now, thanks to these guys. If your using any kind of pressure on a roof, using a pressure washer at low pressure your going to have granite loss and damage. You have two options, read here and learn the right way or surf the net and see all the wrong ways it is being done and waste your money or learn from these guys or myself what we have learned from some of the old guys on here for years and read, then educate yourself the right way and grow your business.
A product called QSE uses a Sodium Percarbonate,...and a boosted version,....Percarbonate with Hydroxide added. roof Shampoo is another company that sells a service and method that is ridiculous in my eyes. I couldn't imagine getting up on a roof with a surface cleaner on a rope and hoisting that thing up and down the pitch of a roof. Also,..if you ever see their videos,..the product they apply before the surface cleaner doesn't really do anything,...they may as well just use the surface cleaner,...which is probably what they do anyhow to save costs.
