Regaurdless of what some guys say, I still think this is the best way to get some quick leads. But thats just my opinion. You can spend a lot of money to do direct mailers but, how can you be assured that the majority of the people actually need the service. By finding the dirty roofs and leaving a flyer, you know they need the service and you give them the info they need to fix it. @ Pete 8 hours total to deliver, 200 miles and me my wife and kid stuffing bags in front of the TV for a couple hours.
It can't be considered littering on private land, only state or federal. And no not all newspapers are ordered. I get one on my driveway everyweek that I didn't order. I just pick it up and throw it away.
Same here. I used to be a cop so i know the laws and i know what i can do and what i can't do. As long as it is wrapped up and placed in a advertising type back its not littering.
That is the best and cheapest advertising unless you wanna fork out a couple grand try direct mail lol so you don't litter lmao Littering, seriously this is business what ever it takes to catch the homeowners attention I'm thinking of getting bright colored bags =] =]
Travis, After you clean your first roof or get your first customer than you can tell us what works and don't. I know what works for us and we are not about to go out throwing thing in peoples yards. We meet face to face and close about everyone we talk to. We have all heard of how many people this pi--es off. I'm not about to get a bad company name. We mail post cards, then go door to door and our closing rate IS AWESOME.
What works in some areas, will not work in others. You always have to TEST SMALL to see if it's worth a larger investment. Once you find a 2000% ROI or higher, dump all of your money into that until it stops producing.

Bob Jr wrote:Nice job on the post cards. Do you really beat all your competitions prices regardless of price. How low are you willing to go for high quality service and your time on the job? We have some serious low ballers in our area. We don't even consider dropping our prices to their level. It seems like this philosophy can back fire and undermine the value of what RCIA members do. Our company is not the cheapest or the most expensive. We understand that some people only care about price. We do not typically want the client that only cares about money vs. quality work. We do our best to use a market strategy of fair price for quality work. With that said, I can definitely see how your strategy is going to generate many more calls and hopefully your competition are not offering similar services for a very low price. Good work....
Thanks...
I'm not sure if I beat all competitors prices because I have never come across one yet We don't have very many people around our area cleaning roofs
As much as I dislike the 10% off and the beat other prices free storm door with every order, buy one get one free .... I learned a long time ago that you need to do it so I do

If you're closing everyone you talk to, you need to raise your prices. You're probably working harder than you need too.
Also, Advertising is advertising and it is not segregated by businesses. Travis not cleaning a roof yet is no indication that he doesnt recognize a good strategy. If you dont want to use rock flyers, good, its not for everyone. But you should probably get off your high horse. I personally cant STAND people knocking on my door trying to sell me. I would slam the door in your face.
I don't like knocking on peoples doors, it seems intrusive. If someone is outside while I am delivering fliers, I tell them, "Hello Sir / Ma'am, I am not out here selling anything today, I am just walking around with advertisement cards to inform people that my company would love to take care of their exterior cleaning needs should any projects come up in the future." By doing this, most people let their guard down and I can hand them the card and say "it was nice meeting you, have a great day" or they may ask more questions. If they aren't outside, I leave it by the door.
I am also going to try the rock in a bag trick, but the point is, to each his or her own. Some don't like knocking on a door and some don't like throwing a bag with a rock.

I tried throwing post cards today and either my rocks are too light or the postcard is too big (5.5 x 8.5"). They didn't travel very far and a lot of the times myself or my wife had to get out of the car to "re-toss" ha ha ha. What's the trick? What kind of rocks do you guys use and do you put more than one rock in sometimes?

Guys try adding a magnet in with it. I did that a couple of weeks ago and got several calls and I only put out 300 so far. I've booked over $1200 worth of work doing it so far. Possibly another $700 today.

O.k guys I don't know who said it can't be considered littering if it's on private property. well you are misinformed it is littering. Anything discarded without the property owners consent is littering and in Ohio Florida and Pennsylvania this is a large fine. Will you get fined maybe not, but if one homeowner turns you in they will fine you. IT IS LITTERING. It is very easy to look up the laws for individual states. I have ran this idea by my last 5 customers and four of them said you better not throw papers in my driveway. So you guys must live someplace where people don't care if you litter. And I am not on my high horse Scott. We are professionals and we don't litter. Guess what happens when the homeowner doesn't pick up your little baggy? That's right it gets wet and probably lays by the road for days until the state picks it up. We can argue about this forever. Just keep doing it that way and lets see who gets fined first.
