Barry, while I dont discourage the use of the larger nozzles, I think you'd be better served keeping the 40's and just adjusting the pressure screw. It is very easy to burn through 20-30% more chemicals using very large tips.
Now if you get used to it quickly and can just figure out how to cover the roof faster without increasing your runoff, by all means use a big of tips as you can. I typically like to err on the side of caution.
I agree Scott, I would like to stay with the 40's or possibly 30's but I didn't want to fry the relay. I'm looking into either the accumulator tank or just switching to the FloJet Pentaflex 7.0. I'm just waiting for some solid feedback before switching.
Its your battery. You shouldn't need more juice halfway through. I ran it for 8 hours a day during that apartment cleaning, and only ever charged it overnight.
Grab some jumper cables and hook it from your truck to the terminals on the pump and see how it runs. I could be wrong but id be willing to bet it runs perfect.
Scott when I said I needed more juice I meant more love. After I mixed it up and re-primed, it ran for about 15 minutes good then started pulsing again. I've ran that battery for about 7-8 hours one day so I don't think it's the battery. By the way are you doing any work in ohio, I did a google search and you came up locally.
Haha, nope. Not sure why I would show up there. What term did you use? I guess its just good SEO.
I honestly can not tell you what the issue with your pump is right now. I'm going to open mine up this weekend and tweak the pressure switch so I'll see if that affects it at all.

From what I remember it said you and a freind where just starting a new venture. I didn't read to closely.
Confident Roof Cleaning Houston TX wrote: @ grizz - I think the priming issue is just because the pump is mounted about halfway up the tank so it's trying to suck upward. Scott, try mounting a 3 way valve on the output of the pump before the hose reel. One output feeds back into your holding tank. The other is the imput to the hose reel.
When priming the pump turn the valve so that the output of the pump goes back into the holding tank. This will relieve pressure off the output of the pump which will vapor lock it.
Once the pump is primed turn the banjo valve so that the output of the pump is going to the input of the hose reel.
Here's some info for you guys to compare with the Delevans:
I began using this new Flojet with 30's tips. I could run the ball valve at minimum 1/8th open without pulsating.
So, I just ordered some 20's to reduce my volume even further. I'm guessing they will not cause any issues since I had no problem with 30's and only a partially open ball valve. It almost seems as if 10's will work but that may be pushing it.
I'll report back when I use the new 20's.
Okay, so I used the 20's on a roof today. They worked great!
I was able to run the ball valve down to about 1/4 turn without the pump cycling!
Seriously, I should be able to run 10's without cycling problems. However, I don't think the 10's will offer enough volume with shooting from the ladder. Should be okay for walking, though.
I'm using 1520, 2520, and 0030. I like this setup a lot and these 3 should do everything I need.
My runoff was reduced considerably with the lesser volume.
Well I don't personally clean the roofs myself typically, so I always try to find ways to save chems and protect landscaping. I don't focus on speed alone. Safety, speed, quality and conserving materials all play a part.
The reason its so big is because its got an internal bypass built in. That means you can use ANY size tips or hose without the pump pulsating on and off and risking a relay failure. I put small pressure washing tips on it and it ran fine.
So far we have cleaned 8 apartment buildings and the pump has been awesome. The only issue we've had is on 2 mornings it wouldn't self prime. Once we got it primed, it worked all day. Also, I'm not rinsing. I've put almost 800 gallons of love through it so far.
We'll see how it holds up.
Scott,
We can rig your new SoftWash System with the new FloJet if you like over the Fat Boy. I have a 100% fix for the priming problem. Lets discuss hanging two of those suckers from your new rig!

Grizz,
Lets line up some roofs in Jax and Ill come up and play!
Yea let's do it. We actually figured out the priming problem was an air leak. Now I have to figure out why its shutting itself off randomly. I still think the pressure switch is getting stuck, but still haven't pulled it apart to see.

May have to hang with the delvan then till you work out the issues?
