Thanks, Bill, I am checking my private messages in a minute. I think it was you who informed me of a different company to use in Baltimore, which I have finally set up an account with just last week. I had some work to do on my truck before I was able to tote a 55 Gallon drum securely and I have made the necessary modifications just last week. However, the bleach I buy from the pool store is 12.5% SH, it's just a royal pain filling up that way, and it's about $1.40 more per gallon!

Phil:
If its the disposable "no-refil" gallon I'm thinking about from the pool store, thats only a 10% SH, not 12.5. I have carried a few of those around with me in case of emergency, but have noticed they loose strength pretty quickly. The clear jugs are not UV resistant.

Does your pool store sell bulk SH?

Hey Ray,

It says 12.5% on the label, but I've never had it tested, and they are in white containers here. They have been my supplier throughout the year and I've never questioned the potency until Saturday. The weather was even cooler the weekend before and everything worked great. The fact that I used the same stock on the 2 roofs last week and had mediocre results led me to either the color of roof that I had never worked on (autumn brown) or the strength, or lack there of, of the SH!

Also, I had one gallon left, opened it and rubbed my fingers together after dipping in a little bit. Usually, there is a white substance immediately, but it was much less prevalent this time. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I think I was shafted on this one! Not that they would know whether each 1 gallon jug is full potency or not, I can't blame the company that I brought from.

I'd chalk it up to weak SH! No big loss, sounds like you handled it like a pro! As long as you are not broke at the end of the day and the customer is happy!

Honestly sometimes the algae just doesn't want to come off, sometimes the mix is weak, sometimes the SH is bad, sometimes the roof is "splotchy". Basically, no two roofs are really every identical. I think Chris and Bill are the only two guys who have perfect results every time!

I also can only get it in liquid form by the gallon. Currently Looking for a supplier or source that can do better. Any suggestions?

This is probably a serious newbie question, but does this color roof normally take more applications to clean than others?

I had to spray each roof 3 times yesterday, both were quite heavily stained in some areas, but nothing that I haven't encountered before. It seemed that the first application hardly even made a difference, on both roofs. I started to wonder if my SH supplier sold me some SH that had lost its potency.

I have not cleaned this color roof before, but I found it odd that I had to respray so many times.

Thanks for the post.
