Hey Y'all, got a call today from a realtor who would like me to clean this beast.  It just went on the market at $2.1 Million.  She said it is covered with tons of moss and it is a slate or tile roof, she wasn't too sure.  I have cleaned a few of these slate type roofs in the past that had moss on them, but it truly is a gradual process.  It does take a bit of time for the moss to disappear.  She would like a more immediate result, being that the house is for sale.  I wont be able to walk it, so scrubbing is out of the question.  I thought of buying a pitch witch (I know dont say it) just for this job.  Any other recommendations?

Sometimes you can spray some of the moss off with just a garden hose and a garden nozzle.  However, after you have sprayed some of the moss off it will still need to be cleaned but with the majority of the heavy moss gone that should help the chemical directly clean the slate or tile.  Hope this helps.  Don't have much experience in the slate or tile cleaning.

Looks much worse than I usually see here but...

Spray it well.
Wait as long as you can.
Rinse with a regular 3/4 garden hose with a sweeper nozzle.
If that isn't enough and you have one of those machines that we don't use on roofs anymore, lol... you can use it with the appropriate nozzle to get it off. You don't really need more than 200-300 psi but a good flow say 4-5 gpm would be nice.

Then spray another pass to get the rest of it.

 There is moss on there? Cant see in the pic.

 I bid a job last year with a slate roof. I didnt get it. I dont know if I was being shoped or what. I bid it a lil high.

 Bid like it was an asphault roof.  Thats my advice. 

 Suck it up and learn! NOW your the expert!
