Well y'all,

I tried the WD-40 spray today, with no result. Darn pump stopped about 20 times today on our job. Huge home, turned out to be a pain in the neck because of this issue.

I appreciate all of your help on this one guys, but I just cant seem to get this resolved.

Not too sure about that, but I do know that that wont help my pump issue.

Do you use a muffler? How long is the draw hose?

Muffler on the pump broke off months ago. Did the same thing when it was on though.

Draw hose is about 5 foot.

Brad did you try filling up the compressor and wait until she is totally full to plug in your air line that goes to pump?

Then Wait for it to draw a full hose line from the tank to the gun and when the pump stops making noise then spray about 5 gallons back into the tank with the gun. Be sure you see no air in the draw line, (If you are using 1" clear hose)

and make sure you don't have any leaks anywhere draw line, air line hose, hose real......

Thank you.

I really have tried just what you said. I will check for air in the hose. Your time is much appreciated.

It is truly unreal how much of a pain it is to come down off the roof 10+ times during a job.

I just cant take it any more. I bought this pump and compressor because I was having a heck of a time with the delavan's. I just cant win!!!

No problem bro. Its hurting me that you have great equip and its not working right.
There are always a few bugs and stuff you have to work out with aby equip but it sounds like somethings wrong here.
I really hope you get this taken care of and get back your sanity.
Have you called REX from PWP? He is the pump guru.
If you need to contact him I think he lives in a temple high above the himalayas no wait that's the dalilama. Rex is Fla. That's right and if you need to talk to him just look up Loris posts and his cell is at the bottom.
Good luck on you quest!

No muffler. The draw tube is as long as a barrel is tall. Ive got a few ideas on it. It annoys me though.

Sounds to me like the pump is sucking enough air to lose it's prime ?

Same problem I was having. I started giving it a shot of WD-40 into the feed line to the pump ( Air supply) and it seemed to solve the problem. I normally give it a shot @ least once a week. No more locking up. Try it. I hope it works for you as well.

Now you KNOW why I use Yamada's Larry, ALL air pumps will stall, from time to time.
The Yamada has a button you push that resets the air valve. You can acheive the same on an All flow with a ball valve on the air line, just shut it, then open it back up, it does the same thing. Or, you can simply use a quick disconnect on air line, and just pull it, then reinsert with a shot of WD 40, either way, just get er done!

Thanks Bucks County. I took the hypochlorite line off to the allflow and had no buildup. I really didn't think that would have been the problem since I rinse 95% of the time. But your suggestion of waiting until the air compressor has built up air completely....THEN plugging the air intake hose from the all flow to the air compressor did the trick. I also turned down the ball valve just a tad while spraying up on the roof and not a problem since.

To the guy having a problem priming from the 55 gallon drum. How do you have your hose setup into the drum? Do you use a filter or just throw in the five foot hose? I'm asking because when I first starting using the new setup, I've had that stiff hose go down and curl right back to the top sucking air instead of cleaner. And I also think it can suck fast to the side or bottom of the barrel if you're using just a hose without filter. If you have any connections/fittings going into the tank, check all clamps and connections. It doesn't take much of a loose fitting for you to get more air then fluid. That has happened to my pressure washer hose intake. Just one slightly loose hose clamp caused big headaches.

Prime issues are almost always air leaks in the prime tube. I would try making a new draw tube from hose and trying it for a test. I have had fine cracks in my PVC cause this problem at threaded connections before.

If a lot of gunk/oil has built up it may need more than the w-d40 to solve it, I had to take one apart and clean it out manually from the gunk. It is spring loaded so be careful it doesn't all fly apart if you disassemble the air valve assembly.

Bill my yamada did the same thing at times, where the air hose hooks up to the pump I just put an on/off turn valve, when I am on a roof and it stalls out I showed my ground guy where to turn it off and on and it works every time instead of unhooking the hose. My new one I just got does it a lot more than the one I had for 2 years before it started leaking and had to replace it a few months back.

Wow. Same problem a month or two ago. Should have posted it then. Would have saved some time. WD 40 did the trick.

Now Im having a problem with the compressor just stopping. Any thoughts on that?

How often do you change the oil in the compressor and in engine?

Does the compressor have a low oil shutdown? Truck / trailer sitting a little unlevel? I had this happen last week. I put some wood blocks behind the trailer tires, backed up and then we were level and back to work.

Yeah, I thought of that too. I dont really think it is the compressor, that runs good.

It truly is the pump that just stops pumping. thanks for your thought.

I am ordering some new draw tubing for the chemical inlet to see if that works.

Does anyone know of a cheap place to buy 1/4" hose whips?
