Lately, while spraying on the roof..............my pump will stop pumping, and nothing comes out of the gun. I found that I have to get down off the roof and unplug the whip line from the compressor, and plug it back in. It fixed the problem everytime. The pump will produce again. This happens between 3-5 times per job and it is a pain in the neck.
I have an all flow pump hooked up to a Ridgid compressor.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thank you, Brad

Same problem I was having. I started giving it a shot of WD-40 into the feed line to the pump ( Air supply) and it seemed to solve the problem. I normally give it a shot @ least once a week. No more locking up. Try it. I hope it works for you as well.
Are you talking about the coupler on the pump or the whip line?
I normally just take the hose off the qc after the glass accumulator and external regulator which feeds air into the pump mechanism and spray into that. Once you re-connect it it will force the WD-40 into the pump mechanism where it is locking up. You will smell WD-40 coming out of the pump exhaust but that is normal. Also, if you still have the muffler on their you can ditch it.
Mine was freezing up on me. Some kinda weird atmospheric temperature change thingy or what not and wasn't letting the exhaust out thus stopping my pump. I just took the thing off and left it off. Other than it's a bit louder, I see no real purpose for it.
Well I guess Steve from All Flo didn't read the manual either. He was the one who suggested that this be done with WD40 and his recommendation seems to have solved the problem for the past 7 months since mine started doing it.
The problem with the pump(IMO) is that even with a separator before the pump which is used to catch moisture, moisture is still able to get past the external accumulator and allow it into the pump mechanism. The WD40 which is a "water displacement" seems to help with this problem. WD40 uses mineral oils in it's mix, not regular oil. Here is a link to WD40 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD-40
I'm having the same problem with my airflow pump. Happened three times today. It seems if I keep spraying, it doesn't do it. But if I stop for a little bit it stops spraying. I also do the same thing. I unhook the air compressor line to the compressor...plug it right back in and all is fine. I can run it fine on the ground. It only seems to do it when I'm up on the roof. Very frustrating. Need input. Someone says spray wd 40, someone says not. Anybody else having the same problem and have suggestions? It didn't do it when it was new. But it's not that old.
you know you can double up the external regulators. I called ALL flo and they said it was a good idea, been doing it for a few weeks seemed to solve our issues. I actually bought extra one form big box store. Sounds kind of weird but it did work and I still use a muffler.

Easy fix. Just turn on your compressor and let her fill up all of the way until she full, make sure your pressure gauge on compressor is good and air whip is not attached to external filter regulator, then plug in air whip hose after the compressor is totally full. grab your gun spray into tank for 3 second incremants until you notice a very consistant suction and spray. then unroll you hose and get her done.

Ours has done it as well, it's usually from oil building into gunk in the valve assembly. Remember that the air line can condensate as well. just clean it out once in a while with the wd-40
The one I was on the other end of last week did this as well. The WD40 trick was implimented there as well and we were problem free the rest of the day.
