AC Said it could be a great marketing tool for presenting my company to customers, so I Just bought one today.. Anyone else using one for their business?
Got one. Set up a slide show. It definetely helps me sell jobs. Hooked up an invoice app and give electronic invoices and estimates on the spot. $30 per month for unlimited 3g wireless. Had it for 3 months now and glad I bought it.

AT&T. I'm pretty sure its the only one you can use. Theres no contracts, month to month. Theres a $15 a month option which would be good if you'll use it for email or occasional searches. But the wife likes to Youtube it on long trips so I went full boat. You can email phtotos from your pic gallery. Full access to all apps just like the Iphone. Customers will ask me when they can expect the estimate. I'll say "Go check your email". Its sweet. Im happy with it.
Wonder if it can handle quickbooks? I don't want to hijack your thread, but I looked into those small netbooks because we wanted something small for in the truck. They said the netbooks won't run my quickbooks. I purchased a small portable printer but need another laptop for truck use.
I have heard that they can. I know my wife has her own business as well and uses quick books online so you can access it anywhere. I think it's like $10 a month

The ipad is almost all apps but its awesome. It is more of a crossover between a blackberryiphone that had a baby with an apple computer, and QB is a very high byte type of program that you especially wont want to run if you upload accountant's copies on a network plan. They eat up a ton during uploads and would cost a lot.

I bet you could get a wifi addressable with IP printer and a power inverter for your car. Then you could print the quote to your sales vehicle. But Scott.......how do you do a six part NCR on an I=Pad? LOL

Oh no, the Ipad is not for that. It is simply for presentations and photos while im estimating. Maybe even looking up competition while im at the customers house.

Scott, how about a digital photo frame for around $100 with a DC to AC inverter. That is what I was thinking of doing. Plus you could leave it in your vehichle window displaying your before and afters while your parked in a lot shopping or whatever.
Ive priced them and would have to see where it would help to warrant buying one. Doing estimates and invoices by email or printing while on the job site would be nice. Right now were still pens and paper.
I am on my laptop going down the interstate right now. Ive got verizon and am set up to tether to my phone. It costs 50 a month with no contract but service is spotty.
I asked questions for weeks and asked dozens of questions before I bought it. Go to PWI and look for the thread "just ordered an iPad". Just some examples of what some guys are using them for.
True dat. I bought mine directly from the Apple store. They talked me into the one year $99 training. All you can eat. As many times as you want. They assign you some Harry Potter high school kid to teach you how to use it. The only challenging thing is loading pics. You have to download Itunes to your home pc. But it only allows you to transfer folders, not individual pics. If your pc challenged, like myself, it takes a minute to figure out.
