I am considering starting a roof cleaning business but don’t know what to expect as far as income. With a lot of advertising how many houses should I plan on doing in a week? How much should I charge for a house? What do ya"ll do in the winter to make money? Is this a good business to be in?

Not sure what part of the country your from, I know the Florida guys have plenty of work, as well as other locations.

I guess it depends where you live.

I live in the west Tennessee area. I see houses every where I go that need cleaned, but with the slump in the economy I don’t know if this is the right time to get into this business.

No...there is no money to be made cleaning roofs! Dont even think about it. Get out while you can!! There is no brotherhood and no one is willing to help.

Ok, sorry, I retract all of the above. Use the search funtion above and it will lead you too the promise land of knowledge.

Plan on doing about 50 houses a week..(you wont, but set it high) get set right on your budget, plan accordingly, and spend wisely.

I know its not what you wanted to hear, but read, read, read...when your eyes bleed, then read some more. Be educated.

Good luck to you!
Happy Cleaning!

I've been at this for only a few months, and I can honestly say that if you put in the effort, you can make money. Educating the customers about what you do is the absolute key to how well you do. The better job you do at advertising and promotion about the service, assuming you do the work professionally, that is, the more reward you'll have.

I kinda like it that way.

This, like any business is all about what you put in it.  If your doing it just for the money then you will fail in business. "How much money do I need to make this work"? Usually the answer is more then you have. Do you still want to play. A question from John L. Herman.

Just go out and clean a roof or two and let your work speak for itself. The rest will come.

It takes a lot of time, a lot of effort and hard work. You must be able to knock on 500 doors and get rejected often and listen to people who think your selling a fraud service and do free demos and invest so much of your time so make sure you have pleanty of money saved up to live on, and another 20 grand for starter equipment. You will also need a truck or van and money to pay a helper.

You have to be in the right mind set and computer knowlegde is a plus because your website will probably be your best sales tool. You need a few thousand as well for signs, cards, door knockers, posters, lettering, shirts, and other advertising in newspapers and all.

This site should cost you the 100,000 it will ultimately cost you to be a real and true Certified Professional with equipment in this business but its completely free.

It is worth it if you are a hard working, strong willed person who doesn't mind giving blood and getting dirty for work. And if thats you then yeah you can make some money in this business. You could make a lot more doing other things but if this is the kind of person you are, then welcome to the RCIA brother.
