remember to watch your feet when hooking up a trailer the welds broke on my jack and the whole 16ft trailer with with 3 125 gallon tanks full of chemical and all tools fell on the top of my foot and crushed it so now I'm out of commision for a few weeks or months. I tried to pull the trailer sideways to line the ball up and the jack welds just turned loose and the angle iron on my tongue fell on my foot thought I was going to loose my foot.

Nathan I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you. I appreciate you sharing your safety tips with us, because I pull my trailer from side to side all the time aligning it up with the ball this could happen to anyone.

I do the same thing but when all weight is on the ball i just give it a tug which ever way it has to go.

As far as safety make sure you cross your chains and make sure they are not dragging on the ground also make sure you connect the emergency brake disconnect up and check all lights for any burnt out bulbs. Makes sure you also grease your axles.

I check lights and tires every time i take my trailer out on to the road.

My son wanted to help back me up so I was about an inch away from the ball. Broke several bones on the top of my foot doctor said bones should heal quick but will have no feeling in my foot for about a year.

Broke my left thumb 5 weeks ago. Bones did heal pretty quickly but it is completely numb except for the very tip. I wish you well.

 This aint as bad as broken bones and the like but todays roof wash, homeowner told me about the really bad ticks in his trees! I'm feelin imaganary ticks and will for a few days!

Sorry to hear about that, hope your foot heals better.

I lower the jack until it is on the ball but can only drop about 1/4" then move the trailer side to side and when it is on the ball correctly then I lower it all the way.

I am thinking of having a large steel castor wheel welded to the bottom of the jack like on the other 2 trailers I have so when I drop the trailer for the day, just turn the wheel sideways so it will move easier than if it was just resting on the foot of the jack, just have not found a good steel castor yet but still looking.

Get better soon. Get to the Tampa Event if you can, it is going to be great!

I hate when that happens yawnyawn We went to Flatbed Roof Cleaning Trucks 14 years ago, the only time we have looked back is in the outside rear view mirrors.
