I was think about getting a roof cleaning set-up from Bob but wasnt sure which on to get. I was at http://www.kentuckytank.com/ the other day and picked up a 55 gallon horizontal leg tank.I also have a reelcraft stainless reel. What is everyones thoughts on these set-ups? http://www.pressuretek.com/codefakit.html http://www.pressuretek.com/defakuteckit.html
Oh BTW, If you are reading this Lori feel free to send me a quote for a complete set-up. Thanks
An average size asphalt shingle roof will use 40-60 gal of mix. I would invest in 100-125gal. tank. The last thing you want is to run out of mix before you get the roof finished. As your business grows, you could be doing 2-3 roofs a day. The larger tank may save you a trip back to the shop for a refill.
As for the pump, both Lori and Bob sell the 12 volt pumps. I wouldn't invest in an air pump and compressor yet. That money spent isnt gonna make you any more. Make that investment when you're doing 2-3 roofs a day 4-6 days a week. I ran a 5850 for 2 years and have been running a Fatboy for the past year. The electric pumps work, they just need to be flushed out after each use. If you buy a kit from Bob, remember 1/2" hose is good, but 5/8" is better. And Don't get the polybraided hose. Be sure to call Lori. She can build you a nice setup as well.
If thats all you have, you can carry extra SH in 5ers or in a 55gl barrel and just pump when needed. If you can swing the bigger tank definately do it.
I have a 65 gal leg tank for my mix tank. When I buy the ssh I have them fill it to the point where I can add my water etc to make the mix for the roof I am going to do. If I am going to do two roofs, I have a 25 gal portable tank that I can tie down to the trailer (the mounts are there) and have them fill it. I then transfer it to my mix tank for the second roof.
Thanks for all the great advice. Here is my problem. I have a 10x6 enclosed trailer. It has all my pure water and pressure washing equipment in it along with some smaller ladders and tools, chem, hose and hose reels. It would be really hard to fit any thing bigger then a 55 gallon tank in it. Do you guys think it would be okay if I kept the 55 and just carried some extra SH in 5 gallon cubes? If my marketing plan goes the way we are planning then i will be setting up a whole new rig for just roof washing and concrete but for now im limited in space.
Thanks Chesapeake for your advice. I going to go with the fatboy for now.

Glad I could help. The 55 will work fine, I just hate to see someone spend money twice. No matter what size tank you have, its never a bad idea to carry a lil extra SH in case you run short. I have a 125gal roof mix tank and often carry an extra 20-30 gal of fresh 12.5

What do you pull it with? You can always do a skid mount in the bed of your truck, somewhere on this site they have one, its a 65 gallon tank with an engine/vidor pump/reel.
I like to think that I offer lots more than just a quote! I usually help guys find SH suppliers, explain the different equipment, give the pro's and con's, give you the reasons why we suggest what we suggest and get to know you a little bit. Plan for about thirty minutes!

Lori's setup will last you longer and perform better by maximizing your pump's capabilities. It will give you more flow, distance, and you'll finish jobs quicker.
Plus you'll use less chemical because she can also sell you Myristimine Oxide (apple butter) surfactant which will make the chemical stick on the roof longer allowing the chemical to work better by reducing the run-off and it will give your customer's roof the longest lasting job.
So I listen to what you guys were saying about my 50 gallon not being enough and went out and got a 70 gallon horizontal leg. That is the biggest that can fit so I hope that will get me going.
