He was actually on salary. We put him on it this year because last year was so Up and Down, we didnt want him to go through that again.

we're not booked out far enough where i need to worry about rescheduling because of rain. If its over 50% or over 15mph winds I reschedule. You only work in the Katy area but we work up to 60 miles away so I can take the chance of driving all the way out there only to have it rain all day and sit in the truck. Know what I mean?

That is what I like about working only a local area.  No long distance driving between jobs.  Traveling is lost money.  Quite often I have my helper doing a job while I am giving quotes.  Then I pick him up and move to the next job and go give quotes again or man the phone and do book work in the truck...

I disagree with this. If it takes away from another job then yes it can be a losing situation. But like we talked about the other day, it doesnt make sense to turn down a $1200 job just because its 40 miles away. It only takes 40 minutes to get to a job like that, take 3 hours to complete and 40 minutes back and even with drive time Id still be way over my target per hour rate. We service all of Texas as long as the Money is right. Just drove out to Beaumont to do a 6k sqft tile roof, and going to be heading to Corpus soon for a tile roof down there. Maybe 2.
