We always try and sell the whole roof cleaning even if only half is dirty. Its the only way to provide a warranty (which we now offer a 5 year with no extra charge).
The way algae grows is, it starts our clear and turns black over time. So even if it doesnt look like it has anything on it, it probably does and will grow back soon. case in point: I did a hotel in July 2008. I was charging $2k for half and $3k for the full roof. Only half of the roof was dirty so he didnt feel that the other half was worth the extra $1k. Flash forward 2 years. The half we cleaned is still perfect and the other half is now covered.
If they do not pay for the whole roof, they do not get a warranty.
let me get this striat you guys are telling me that you do the whole roof even when the south side has no one bit of alage. 80% of the time i only do the 1 side and its not splash and dash we are only fast cause we work as a team i have a great ground guy and he is the resone for the sucsses. are work is praised and the mci factor is booming
Seeing how Gloeocapsma Magma (aka roof algae) is actually a microscopic bacteria... How would you know if the south side was completely absent. When I go to an Oncologist to remove cancer... I'd like it all removed. When I have pest control spray for bugs... I'd like him to spray everything not just the room I saw the bug in, yeah?
I do the whole roof, tile edges, and most of the time the facia. I just finished a job that was about 4200 sqft Tile roof with pool enclosure, gutters, soffits, facia, downspouts, etc. Took me all day... I'm okay with that. I sold both neighbors by the time the day was over and didn't have to even ask for the business.
The reason I got the neighbors without asking. 100% quality 0% damage even took my time and threw in a few small extras.
So, yes I do the whole roof.
Certification seems, maybe just a bit too easy to get.... IMHO

I think your idea is ridiculous. I'm not willing to turn roof cleaning into a game and sacrifice safety for the title of "Most Roofs Cleaned in Two Days." Haste in this business can have deadly results.

Faster is not better and more, rarely is...
I have to agree with Dan here. You get an A for wanting to boost morale, but an F in design.
I'm wanting to build a business on reputation, but certainly not that one.
That is a lot of roofs in one day, congrat's. I usually just keep it simple and do 2 to 4 a day. Plus we do other items in pressure washing, as for splash and dash haven't heard that in awhile but that is something you do not want to have have a bad experience with. It seems your ground guy is doing a real good job for you. We like to only clean full roofs our selfs but do have those who do not want it done. We offer the 2 year warranty on full cleaning's but no warranty of half cleaning's and they know that up front before we even start.
I give the customer my recommendation, and suggestions, and I let them decide if they want to clean the whole roof or sections, I'm not going to give customers a hard time or walk away from business because I refuse to clean the entire roof. Economic times are still tough for some, and I appreciate the business they do give me.

clyde. i agree but if you offer a warranty and do not clean the whole roof then it might come back to bite you in the you know where.
