I know isnt it amazing, you wil see this alot , you will see them put a new roof right over the dirty roof... you can lead a horse to water but you cant make them drink it.. gets frustrating at times.... I always say  another home owner just got played by a roofer....

I agree. However, this is a great example of all the potential business there is out there.  Just keep knocking on doors, advertise if you can afford it, and educate the public on what we do. 

 

I just placed an ad in the roofing section! lol! WTF. I'll prob be dead next week, lol!!!

I had a lady who after I booked a roof cleaning, she decided to have a roofer come out and see if she needed a new roof. No worries, but of course the roofer told her she needed a new roof. I suggested she have a second opinion, so she got one. This roofer told her she easily had 5 years of useful life left, even more once it's cleaned.

I'd like to talk to this roofer, maybe take him out to lunch. If he's this honest, I would like to send him roofs that really need replacing - and maybe he can send me roofs that just need a good cleaning.

Good luck, around here the roofing companies rule, after our recent storms everyone without a job became a "roofer" offering free roofs, issue around here is no code enforcement.

These guys sell the job, and then Paco shows up with ten guys and its done in half a day.

I had to call the city because I was tired of roofing signs everywhere, I'm a fan of lettered vehicles and people who have used companies before, anyone can make a sign. IMO.

 

I would like to stick up for some of the company's that will be honest to home owners !!!!!!!!!! I have been in the insurance restoration industry ( storm damage ) for ten years. We have resently added no pressure roof cleaning to our list of services we provide. If a roof need to replaced then by all means replace it. I wouldn't want to take the chance of the roof leaking and there becoming a bigger problem. For you fine folks who live in the oklahoma region or any other area that has really bad hail storm know what shingles look like after they have been hit by 2" - 2 1/2" hail .. My point is I would hope roofer will be honest to home owners and let them know the true shape their roof is in !! if a cleaning is all it needs then tell them that also to the roof cleaners if there is damage to the roof I hope you are letting the home owners what you see!!! Can't we all just get along!!!!!!

Mike you have stumbled upon what economists are based on. We want to think consumers act rationalyy, but they do not. Most people truelly do not even understand how money works. People buy for all kinds of reasons other than rational thought and the market changes very fast, so when economists do their equations they must use the term 'all factors held constant' this term means we assume people will be irrational and the market may change before this equation is finished. That's a big part of why economics is so confusing to people and is usually a best guess rather than a hard fact. Hooking up with a good roofer will defenitly help your business. Customers love it when you can refer other good contractors and it may take years for you to find them and make it work.

This thread also brings up why the rcia exists. It is here to promote the industry and the facts of how it works. More people doing thee sa,e standard makes selling the standard easier on all of us.
