Looks like I made a mistake and bought from that TEK guy. He convinced me to go 1/2" all the way. He must be trying to get rid of all of his 1/2" overhead that he is stuck with. I will be calling you soon for some for some parts.

1/2" discharge hose is fine. 3/4"-1" suction hose is whats needed to feed the pump properly. All you need to do is switch the hose coming from your tank to your pump. Your discharge hose and ball valve is fine. Dont waste your money going up in size just yet.
Oh PWP has some kits! They are not your typical cookie cutter kits!
KEEP THAT DELAVAN OUT OF THE BOX! Is is hot where you are? It seems pretty hot all over the place right about now. Get rid of the elbow(s) while you are at it. If it did not get hot in that battery box, why do I see examples of computer fans being installed in the box. Has anyone ever seen a delavan drown in a battery box? I have witnessed it. It was sad. When that pump fails and it will, get another one ASAP beforehand and keep it in the box in in your truck for when you are in the middle of the job and find that your 12v fails in the middle of a huge job that absolutely has to be done that day without exception.
PWP sells the Fatboy for $215.
All pumps fail. Don't try to push the 12 volt pumps to their death. Give that 12v pump some TLC and remember to go big. Go big on the suction side of the pump. DO NOT USE 1/2" id poly braided soft hose. Are you using 2 pieces of 5/8 clear braided poly with a hose splice and hoase clamps? Get rid of it when it's life it up and get a continuous piece of hose that has crimped ends. Use the local hydraulic shop to crimp the ends on for you. You won't have to deal with hose clamps again.
PWP keeps batteries in battery boxes. We do not keep TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) pumps in battery boxes.
Go big on the discharge side of the pump 5/8 or 3/4.
Ask Mike Sullivan about these recommendations. I believe his Fatboy has given him two years of profits!!!!!!!!!! That is the LONGEST lifespan I have ever heard of for a 12v pump.
Remember......the All-Flo KE038-B3 has a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY!!!!
hey Lori, whats the striped hose going into the top? Is that the suction?
Ok I will answer this for you seeing as how I use the same hose. YES it is for the suction. 3/4 in.
Ok cool. I wasnt sure because I use a bottom bulkhead. I know thats a no-no because of leaking issues, but we have had it that way since July 08 and havent had a leak yet. once we do, Ill switch to a top suction.

The clear poly braid hose is cheap. Making sure to use 1/2" hose on the discharge and suction sides of the pump with kill that pump. Selling those Fatboys over and over due to the recommendation on using undersized hoses will ensure continuous profit for the seller. ~~~Point to Ponder~~~

I fired off an e-mail last night to PT regarding the heating issue with the "black box" and the reply was " No worries"........
I will follow Lori's advise and upsize the suction side, and either cut some holes in the box or scrap it.......I hate to scrap it...$99.00 down the drain...

The black box is fine. Your heat is not worse than mine, and mine works perfect. But definately up your suction hose.

Great post Lori. One thing though. Instead of always talking about what other vendors are doing wrong just tells me what you are doing right. It would make it so much easier for me to read these posts. When Im reading your post Im looking for information that can help me in my business,I dont care about your opinion about the other venders. If I wanted to hear about them then I would go ther there forum but Im not..Im here. When I go to a customers house I dont waste their time telling them what the other guys are doing because I want their complete focus on me and my company. So keep up the good work and please dont take this wrong it is just MY opinion.
BTW. I need a slotted filter Im using the mushroom filter your talked about. How do I get one?

When you are trying to compete against a company that is faaaaaarr superior to yours, you have to take shots at them. Its insecurity.
