Marcus, to take offense to you posting my own words would be rediculous. Since day 1 I have always been clear on the relay problem. The only reason we were blowing fuses and relays at the beginning was because of the cheap relay installed at the manufacturer. It only happened when we opened our ball valve less than all the way open. Once the relay is switched out with a better one, you can open the ball valve as much or little as you want without an issue.
Like Larry said before, I do believe that the tip size has more to do with any issues than the size of the hose. But as long as you adjust the pressure screw it doesnt really matter what size tips you use either, it will just affect the flow. I use 40's, some guys use bigger.
I hope that answered your question..
Thanks Scott! Three years ago you did complain about the relays. I wonder why Delavan has not corrected the problem in 3 years. Don't they have ears? Delavan make something we roofers can use out of the box, without modifications, that holds up. Roof Cleaners will be more apt to buy your pump. Scott that was the informative answer that I was wanting to hear. I would welcome other members comments.
They might have fixed it. I havent bought one since then because this ones been running perfect so im not sure.
I would at least leave the top off the box while you're using it, but it would be better in my opinion to take the pump out of the box.
Place a thermometer in the box and leave it out in the sun for a few hours and see how hot it gets. The 12v pumps rely on air to cool them off, the box has to restrict that air flow quite a bit, even with the fan. Not to mention the box is made out of black plastic, which probably heats up even faster.
I have never understood the purpose of the box. Is there one?
An extra $99.00
I guess it becomes a money issue, sell more pumps to those less "educated" about the whole idea.
I did read up and settled on the air pump from Lori, wife spotted the "kit" and I followed up on the Fatboy, with great reviews.......the box was my idea, less hassle to wire, etc....

The purpose of the box is to keep it out of the direct sunlight and keep the wiring out of the elements. It does get hot in the box and thats what the fan is for. I dont know where you guys are from but unless you're in the desert, your heat is not worse than it is here and your pump will be fine.
You are correct. I use the Fatboy everyday. Roof cleaning, house washing, building washes, etc.. and have used it for a year and a half. The first half without a box, the 2nd half with one. Never had a problem either way.

That's what you call "thinking outside the box"
I dont get it
If you never had a problem w/o the box, why use the box ? Or, better yet, why PAY for the box ?
Oh PWP has some kits! They are not your typical cookie cutter kits!
KEEP THAT DELAVAN OUT OF THE BOX! Is is hot where you are? It seems pretty hot all over the place right about now. Get rid of the elbow(s) while you are at it. If it did not get hot in that battery box, why do I see examples of computer fans being installed in the box. Has anyone ever seen a delavan drown in a battery box? I have witnessed it. It was sad. When that pump fails and it will, get another one ASAP beforehand and keep it in the box in in your truck for when you are in the middle of the job and find that your 12v fails in the middle of a huge job that absolutely has to be done that day without exception.
PWP sells the Fatboy for $215.
All pumps fail. Don't try to push the 12 volt pumps to their death. Give that 12v pump some TLC and remember to go big. Go big on the suction side of the pump. DO NOT USE 1/2" id poly braided soft hose. Are you using 2 pieces of 5/8 clear braided poly with a hose splice and hoase clamps? Get rid of it when it's life it up and get a continuous piece of hose that has crimped ends. Use the local hydraulic shop to crimp the ends on for you. You won't have to deal with hose clamps again.
PWP keeps batteries in battery boxes. We do not keep TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) pumps in battery boxes.
Go big on the discharge side of the pump 5/8 or 3/4.
Ask Mike Sullivan about these recommendations. I believe his Fatboy has given him two years of profits!!!!!!!!!! That is the LONGEST lifespan I have ever heard of for a 12v pump.
Remember......the All-Flo KE038-B3 has a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY!!!!

hey Lori, whats the striped hose going into the top? Is that the suction?
ok... someone tell if i have screwed up. I just purchased one of these complete systems that Lori is describing. I am very new to this and I am still in the process of getting everything mounted on my trailer. I have a 275 gal. tank and two 55 gal. poly drums. I was planning on using 1/2" pvc with 1/2" ball valves so that i could pull from whichever tank i needed. Any suggestions on what i should do or change would be greatly appreciated. Also any pictures of setups would be helpful also. Thanks!!!

Ok I will answer this for you seeing as how I use the same hose. YES it is for the suction. 3/4 in.
