If you are going to work on a home for the homeowner. You should always write up a contract and have the homeowner sign it. This way the homeowner   understands what is being done and what the cost is.

Agreed! I'm a contractor and most of the time it's more imprtant to specify what your NOT doing in the contract or else it's implied that you are... People want sopm for notttn so cover your A-s!

 yeah, I have to agree with that.  In florida a contract is good weather signed or not, but a signature is always better.  any changes should be noted.
