okay so I did my first batch of love and tried it out on my dads roof. I don't have any pictures but the roof is a light color and the black stains came right out, but I almost feel that the on some parts of the roof where the love was sprayed it seems a bit yellow, or dirty. okay well not impressed with my mixture at all. I used 15 gallons of 12.5% sh 4 cups of ammonyx lo and about 30 gallons of water, maybe a bit less. the love just didn't seem to get verry thick. should I have used more ammonyx?
the roof may get a bit yellow from time to time. Check results after a good rain. You will then see the full effect. You may need a second coat. Just wait and see. Trust in your chemical. They work!

I believe in the love. I guess I am just wanting to no If I put more ammonyx lo in the love will it be okay. I didn't like all the run off. I want it to stick more just not sure how much to put in. I am going to do my second trial roof tomorrow. if all goes well then its on to the paying customers.
You'll most likely always have some run-off. You can reduce it with the amount of love you spray. Unfortunately, you can't just spray it on the roof and it just sticks to the roof...at least not in my case.
The first roof I did, I used a 1530 tip and had tons of run-off. I switched to a garden hose sprayer nozzle and used alot less love, had way more control and had alot less run-off.
I use about 1 quart for a 50 gallon mix but for steeper roofs I add another 1/2 quart and that helps a lot.
You will not see the mix thick like syrup in case that is what you are thinking that you will see.
Part of the system is spraying only enough to do the job, don't flood the roof because that will lead to killing plants and grass.
I use the 1520 and 2520 nozzles but once in a while I use the 1530 or 2530 nozzles but mostly use the 0040 and once in a while the 0030 for shooting far away (straight stream).
Control what you spray and that will really help with the runoff but that takes lots of practice. You can get up there on a roof and practice spraying with just water to get the hang of it and have someone watching the runoff coming off the roof and coaching you so you get better.
Good Luck.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT. I WILL BE DOING A PRACTICE ROOF TOMORROW. I THINK I JUST PUT TO MUCH LOVE ON AT ONE TIME, I CAN SEE HOW IT TAKES A BIT OF PRACTICE TO GET THIS DOWN. KINDA LIKE MOPING ON HOT TAR ROOFS, SOME MAKE IT LOOK EASY AND OTHERS JUST DON'T. I WILL TRY SOME OTHER NOZZLES ALSO. AGAIN THANKS FOR ALL THE FEED BACK.
You just need more practice Bob. The roof mix does not get thick really it just runs less. To avoid runoff patience is needed. Just spray the top and wait for it to stop running, then spray the middle and wait a little then spray the bottom and you will see... Presto!! very little runoff. Don't forget it is better to have to re coat an area a few times then to have it all coming out the gutters. Let those roofs dry so you can see if you really got it all an you will be golden.
So it's simple, just spray the top and wait for a while, let it run and just get a hint at the gutters. I sprayed that other panel while I waited for this side. Then when it starts to dry fill in with a 15-25 degree tip. After you wait some more like ten minutes, (we finished another panel in that time) spray it all again with your 40 degree tip just enough to foam it again. We cleaned this entire roof with minor repair and inspection in 2hrs Just had to tar some nails and fix some gutter heads. The roof is old, laid over another roof and is in need of replacement. We let the customer know this before we sprayed it. She's gonna wait it out and take the clean roof for now. We used a 50% SHC with 1/4 gallon loramine oxide, 1cup borax, 1lb tsp solution, 25 gallons total.

thanks Bill I have a roof tomorrow, gots to change my set up a bit, just found out that I need to get rid of my elbows to my fat boy pump intake, well I think your right I went a bit fast on that first job. didn't let the "love" run down. I am going to take it slow this time.
I ran into a similar situation with the love running. I think that I was in too much of a rush, I didn't let the love set up in stages, Thanks for the info. I thought that my mix was too runny also. I will try this method

Until I got the Amonyx Lo, I was very impatient and had tons of runoff as I did not get the results I wanted as fast as I wanted.
Now, with the Amonyx Lo I got from Lori, I control the runoff better because the mix is doing what I want it to so the job gets done faster overall with less runoff.
It is amazing what one chemical adding to your mix will do to the overall job.
Thanks again Lori!
