Bill, Thanks for the roof cleaning job in Massachusetts. It worked out well. It was about 80 miles from my house. Makes me rethink how far I'll travel to a job.
80 miles is quite a drive. I generally work close to home, but when I do travel it's not a big deal I just start from the furthest point and work my way back home.
I have done jobs 250 and 300 miles away but they paid good so it is not that big of deal for me.
As long as you are making money and profit, that is the important part.

Driving is one thing, but making money is more important. In the slow seasons I will drive distances but during the busy seasons I will pass on driving a long ways. You have to balance the cost of the free estimate (time, wear & tear on vehicle, etc.) vs how much you could have made if you had been working. I will even walk a job if a bidding war erupts and the amount that I would make on the job falls below a certain amount. Right Scott & Celeste. Why go back wards financially just to do a job when you could have made more doing another?
