Happened to us today.  Had two of my guys on a job today.  Called and said the pump wouldn't start.  Told them to check the fuse....  Update... took the pump off line... hooked up straight to battery.... I can hear the pump turn a couple times then lock up... little smoke from wires.. unhook....going to get a replacement head and see if I can salvage it.

I would'nt waste my money. It's not the head, it's the armature corroded and rusted inside = done for!

Been there, done that a dozen times-to say the least!

No, not forever. However, if you always use the pump with the black plastic electronics facing down, you minimize what can run into the expensive motor. If you ruin anything, it will be the replacable head or just the demand switch.

I get twice and more the life out of my pumps by running them head down and by running 5+ gallons of water through after each use. Also, if you have a backup, or one stored, run car antifreeze through it and leave some right in there. It prevents corrosion etc.

 Looks like I'm going to change my layout and hang it motor up.  I have it lying flat right now 2" off the floor.  I did see some corrosion on the bottom of the motor when I took it out.
