Now I want to wait and see what this can do before I order up equipment. Foaming a roof would help me with my hesitation of dealing with run off. I second or third the video demo.

Thanks Lori, I'm not being critical,...just skeptical. Not sure why this pump would be of better service than a simpler air setup like the All-Flo. If these are truly triplex type plunger pumps they're more than likely going to have alot of wetted parts that aren't gonna be rated high for SH. Like valve springs and seats,..not to mention the pump head itself.

Also very skeptical about the 13 HP running 8 GPM. Typically that's not enough HP. This must be gallons rated in foam application,...as foam would be lighter, and a gallon would add up quick when considering foam. A typical 8 GPM wash pump,...pumping water would require 20-25 HP. That foam wand is probably not gonna be SH resistant for long. I truly believe considering resiliency and simplicity,..the All-Flo with A rated parts is about as good as it gets.

Also going to be dealing with an unloader ,...again to many parts for the SH to attack. The air system is so simple.

I agree with you that I doubt this system will last for the long run.  However 13 HP with a gear reduction system will operate and 8 GPM pump easily.  My house washing rig has one built by Envirospec.  It runs 5 days a week at approx 5 hours a day for the last 2 years with no problem.

Hey Marcus, I stand corrected on the HP rating,...forgot about gear reduction units. But that just adds to the overall cost even more. I guess we will see what they bring. Wish I was going to be there.
To me it's still a hard sale for this to replace the simpler system. Just don't see the value of it. Foam isn't that big a selling point as far as I'm concerned Especially if that's the selling point for these units.

My 10 gpm machine has a 25 horse Kohler

My machine has been modified it was a 8 gpm @ 5 thousand PSI and the pulley has been changed to give me 10  GPM @ 3000 PSI

I wanted more water than PSI.

I guess I would be concerned about how much chems you would blow through that pump and also the over spray. I would watch one of you guys before I got one ha! It would make a good show anyway!

Well they can probably achieve 8gpm in low pressure somehow without the extra horsepower. It's 8gpm at high pressure that would need the HP. I bet it is way lower than 8gpm when spraying high pressure with 13hp.

I wanted to add this off subject so Lori would see it as well

Here is the patent test data for loramine oxide as a surfacant as we discussed, I had this link buried in my files and just found it.

http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20090197790

Most people won't read it, but the drip tests are on line 0072
Pretty remarkable no drip formulations and stability levels with various chem solutions.
There are little gems of info throughout the report.

Apparently none of you looked at Lori's Link, LOL. Take a look and all this conversation can end. its an 8gpm 1400 psi pump with a firefighters foamer.

http://www.catpumps.com/pdfs/Brochures/UHP%20Foam%20FF%20Systems.pdf

I even hyper-linked it so you can click it instead of ignoring it and guessing some more :)

Don't get me wrong I skim through stuff sometimes too, but it is funny to see you guys still guessing what it is after she posted a link of exactly what it is.  We were all way off, it's just an add on foamer attachment that bolts onto the specialty unloader.  I have seen these in action before.  I am interested to see if they will actually upstream, the SH and downstream the Loramine.

I did look at the link she provided Bill. I seen the washer,.. the wand and a tank. She said this the the unit to be on display. I don't see how we were way off in initial analysis. If it was just an add on foamer she wouldn't have mentioned 8 GPM and the ability for this new pump to be used as a pressure washer also.

No offense guys, I just had this image in my head of us all thinking it would be all these a rated high pressure materials. I was thinking that way too, then when I saw the pdf I was dissapointed because now I believe they are going to add the mix in an xjet fashion. I still might be way off, but like yoou said, if there is wetted metal iin the pump it won't last if it's meant to draw sh.

I checked out the link, I can't wait to see a video of it in action.  I can see where foam would be interesting to help dwell time, and cling.

Only time will tell if it can stand up to SH.  I do not know of an unloader that can for long.

If they make the pump a low pressure pump like under 500psi then they probably could make the pump and parts out of materials that might hold up with the SH.

They don't need over 500psi for a lot of applications, mostly flow in gpm's.

If they could make a pump that could do from 3 to 8gpm's with 500 or less psi (adjustable) then that would cover a lot of areas that a lot of use could use, just need a pump that can handle the SH as it is more corrosive than a lot of acids and caustics.

If CAT could come up with something that holds up then that would definately be something to be looking at.

I know of a few guys that run acid through their CAT pumps for 2-stepping and have seen one do it in person, upstreaming the acid through the pump and the output is 2000psi. Most brands of pumps cannot handle the acid running through them for more than a few weeks to a few months but CAT has some out there that can handle it for over a year easily.

This is something very interesting to keep an eye on.

Thanks for the info Lori.
