I'm trying to read up on the chemicals and I see the % on this data sheet is for 5% but I'm guessing 12.5 is obviously stronger.
Look at page 3, section 7 under handling and storage. 7th or 8th short sentence says "Never add water to this product" Isn't that what we will or are all doing?
I take it by the face your disappointed! I'm sure I'm missing something here. No worries, I will keep reading. The good news is the local place that I can get it does carry it in the 12.5%
hey Jeff from Mn. Not a dumb question at all! Science Lab says," Never ADD water to this product." They could have also said,It's okay to ADD the product to water. The rule of thumb when mixing is to add the chemical to the water, not the other way around. This is important to follow when mixing very strong acids and very strong alkali with water. (Seems to happen more with acids.) A violent reaction can occur and splatter chems for several feet! So thanks for asking the question Jeff, you may have saved someone from some nasty chemical burns!
- add the chems to the water is only a rule of thumb.

- more importantly, read the MSDS-
Hope this was helpful. PLAY SAFE OUT THERE!
NO VIOLENT REACTION OCCURS BETWEEN SH AND WATER. EVER.
STOP PROPAGATING THIS FOOLISHNESS.

He didn't say SH reacted violently with water. He's simply stating the rules of mixing. And he is correct,...you add chemical to water not the other way around. Just,.."Mixing 101"

Jeff
He insinuated it. Anyway that aside,
You can even pour pure potassium hydroxide flakes into even a very small amount of water and you will not have the violent reaction that he claims. It will get instantly hot as heck but it will certainly not throw chemicals several feet. edit: and by that I mean it won't throw them any feet! Might rise a tiny bit for a second.
I am aware of Mixing 101 thank you. Just trying to clear up the silliness. I won't post in this thread again.
