Clear Shine Maintenance in Alabama is getting some, it is called Barlox I really like The Amonyx LO - but would like to try this as well. ALWAYS looking to get better!
Ok I guess I will post my results here in this thread. First off just so you know. I am not one who is easily ready to try new things. Once I find something that works that I am comfortable with I stick with it. The other thing is, if I don't like something I will tell you straight up that it is a POS.
NOW,,,, Last week for the first time, I decided to try out that Amonyx Lo surfactant. The first Roof Cleaning was a Shingle Roof in Saint Petersburg FL. From the moment my mix hit the surface of the Shingles my Roof guy could not get over the way it was grabbing hold of the algae and just eating it up. Keep in mind that the temp was only about 55 deg here too.
The second Roof Cleaning was a Big 2 Story Tile Roof In Safety Harbor Florida. The same effects were achieved on the Tile Roof. The mix began working immediately. Normally we spend almost as much time putting the second coat on as the first coat but this was not the case with the Amonyx Lo. The second coat only took a few minutes. We also had to do a House Wash on the same House. Again, using a downstream method we used the Amonyx Lo for the House Wash the results were amazing. The best part was the fact that it actually left the windows clean of any film and streaking. A HUGE plus to both me and the customers.
Since then we have Cleaned 7 more houses, some vinyl and some stucco and achieved the same results. We also Cleaned 4 other Tile Roofs this past week and again with excellent results.
It is more than likely that I will continue to use nothing but Amonyx Lo for all my applications from this point on. Now I just don't know what to do with the 5 bottles of Dawn that I have. I guess my wife will not have to buy any dish soap for awhile. LOL.
My chemical supplier said it was a "drop in replacement" for Ammonyx Lo, which, from what I understand, is the same thing. From my research, Ammonyx Lo is the brand name from the stephens company. Barlox may be the generic name? I havent gotten any yet since I wanted to see what you thought about it first. I can get the Ammonyx Lo from a couple different chemical suppliers, but this Barlox 12 I can get from my supplier of SH....going to see if I can get anything less than a 55er and try it out....

My Men are reporting the same results, although one lazy azz EX Ground Man said he thought it made the plants a litte harder to rinse. I said "All Plants are hard to rinse for you, that is why you is EX Ground Man" LOL I show all my ground men how it sudses up when hit with water. I tell them" Your AZZ's better HOPE when I go check a job the plants don't suds up if I re water them" I also belive it provides a degree of lubrication for the pumps Larry, since it breaks down completely, and dont leave soap globs in your tank.
Once, a long time ago, when I was still experimenting with non compatable chit for my mix, I looked into my tank, then called Hollywood! It looked like an Alien Glob Creature was IN the Tank, LOL
ive been busy as hell just not much roof cleaning all pressure washing stuff. i think roof cleaning is slow because everyone is still replaceing all there dead plants from the freeze. all my work lately has come from PM's and contractors cleaning up the community's not much home owner work.

If we all just hang on, it has GOT to get better. Things are FILTHY lately, have you or anyone noticed ?
I really want to try this stuff out i will have to order some. i will also ask my chemical supplier if he has any.
Yes, it is great stuff. I found a chlorine stable surfactant, but it was way too expensive for everyday use. Billy from H20 found the Amonyx LO It has forever changed the roof cleaning world I advise everone to be a Pro, and use it. In the long run, it costs less then Dawn, is easier to use then TSP, and it just rocks as a cleaner, and sticking agent. Once you do a roof with it in your mix, and it rains good, you have a showcase roof cleaning job to show off! Customers love to see all the suds coming off their roof, makes em feel they got their moneys worth!
i think the HOA's are getting laxed around here lately. i did a roof in tampa palms last week and couldn't believe how bad that area has gotten its like nobody cares any more including the HOA's if they dont get back on top of this there home values will just keep droping its a shame use to be such a nice community

I got some SH from Xterior and was talking to them and they said that they do think barlox is the same as ammonyx lo. Haven't compared msds sheets yet though.
That billy bob will foam right out of the tank! Recommend adding last and using up the whole batch before mixing more? Most of you have large tanks though probably.

No Billy, here is what is really happening. About 2 years ago, when the economy started dying, they did send out letters. Enough homeowners claimed poverty, they became Lax. They can't put liens on every home. As a result, roofs are filthy around here, look like chit A real shame

WE have dual 300's, never go more then 275 though. I LOVE seeing the suds in my tank, especially Bill Bob Suds I used to get nervous with Dawn in my tank ! I was asked once "Chris, why do you bite your nails " I answered" Because A customer cancelled, and I got a tank with Dawn in it, eating my chit UP" Please pass the Xanax ??
Hey RCIA! Barlox and Ammonyx are the same. The MSDS sheets are the same. If you can get it locally, we recommend it. We want to save you money. Ask if you can by a 30 gallon container. The less times that your supplier has to handle it, the less expensve it is. To my knowledge, it does not go bad. Split a drum with someone.
FYI....a lot of the pink gutter cleaners out there are a ZEP product. You can buy locally from ZEP (athough ZEP usually marks up their products a considerable amount) and save yourself shipping and mark up.

When you used the Amonyx Lo did you let it substitute any of your chemicals other than dawn? I cleaned a bank roof yesterday. I used 23 0z. Amonyx Lo to replace dawn and TSP. Waiting on the rain.

On a cement TILE Roof, I like TSP. Amonyx vs TSP depends on the roof. it is a toss up. But for ease of USE, nothing beats Amonyx LO IMHO. Just dump it it, stir, go spray and play, splash and dash TSP and Amonyx LO is a potent azz mix we use sometimes on really filthy roofs. Plus, we carry rubbing alcohol to add, only as a last resort.
