RCIA members Hello, I am a newbie as you can see. I am a old roofer who wants to start a roof cleaning business in Northern CA. Sacramento area. Can anyone give me a starter list if tools and recipes. I would really appriciate it. I am a roofer with sells that dropped 90%. I have been doing alot of repairs and now getting alot of request to clean roofs. I bought a bag of Zinc Sulfate and tested one gallon water to one cup of Zinc sulfate to kill the moss on a friends roof. Sprayed it with a garden sprayer. Two days ago but it shows no effect. I am going to try Sodium precarbonate next. I am going at it slowly. Learning alot on Wikipedia for chemical education. I just found all of you. here on this great website forum. So I thought this forum would help me start and continue a partnership in this new to me industy. Long post uh!
First off start in the equipment section and you will find all kinds of roof cleaning rig configurations. You will have to decide what your budget is and choose a set up accordingly.
Second check out the chemical section for the cleaning solutions. There are several recipes there that will work. It depends on what you want to work with.
Third be sure to read all the safety threads you can so that you can protect yourself and your employees from chemical exposure.
The search feature at the top will be a big help. You can search apple sauce or apple cider.
Great White, Thank you for your attention at this hour. It took me 1/2 hour to post my request. And I ask out of being new this site but where is the equipment section, chemical section and the safety threads? Are there here with in this site or where? Thank's

Thanks for your support, I have been looking around alot at roofs lately here in the north sac Ca. area. Not every roof has a moss or mildew stain problem. But the ones that do will get my advertiser soon. I am going to put together my own pump system. It looks like sure flow is the pump of choice but what size? Then I need to get some used 55 gal barrels with tops I suppose. The nozzels guns I am not sure about yet.
Welcome Calvin, I feel you man I'm in the same boat with my roofing/siding company. I can tell you from 6 months of research that you have come to the right place. These guys are great here and are loaded with valuable information. I'm new here myself and couldn't believe the wealth of information these guys have been sharing with guys like us. Good Luck with your no pressure roof cleaning venture.
Thanks Again Chet, I just stopped by a above ground pool store. They have some chemicals not much of what I am going to need. I will get ahold of Lori and talk to her ASAP to.
If you want you can check with Lori with Pressure Washer Products for getting started up
I agree. I have been in contact w/ Lori this week. Extremely helpful. When I get ready to make my equipment purchase in the next week or two, she'll be the one to get the order.
