man i don't know what else to do guys. i have good ranking blogs and a decent web site. i have put my name in front of apparently 350.000 to 400.000 people and still no phone calls.
can some one tell me what i am doin wrong.ROOF CLEAN NC
DO NOT beat yourself up bro. Web searches across the board for Roof Cleaning, Pressure Washing etc...are way down. Most of the country is in a deep freeze and people are still trying to recover from the holidays... Tax season is right around the corner. Things will pick up soon. I feel your pain...it's been slow here too. Hang in there!!!
Looked at your site and it's really good! We are the same way.. No calls! I do work for a landscaping company and same with them! We just have to hang in there...I've been home all week and wish i could do something more...I called all my clients and they say it's to cold.
With the weather of late, most homeowners are outside working and therefore aren't thiking of roof cleaning or any other out door activites. Hang in there!
Now how can we get people to sign up for a cleaning in advance! like right now. If we could get people to schedule a cleaning for the summer and give them idk some money off or FREE driveway cleaning. That way we are crazy booked.
1. Your header would be better without the sunflowers. Just doesn't scream cleaning. 2. Your name in the header is not readable. Half of it is gone. at least in firefox. it is ok with chrome. 3. crop the photo in the video to get rid of the chain saw. 4. you don't have any before and after photos, only a video. you have 30 seconds or less to keep them on your site. 5. Make separate pages for different items. You need a dedicated roof cleaning page and a power washing page. 6. Your services page actually needs to be 2 separate pages. The bottom portion needs it's own page. Be careful with this as a lot of people are posting this exact copy on their sites and Google will eventually determine it is duplicate copy. 7. Keep the font type the same on the entire page. It does not have to be the same size but if you use Arial in the beginning you need to use it the whole way through. 8. Italics can make it a hard read for some. 9. Try increasing the font size to a 12 or 14 to make it easier to read. The home page is just not an easy read. 10. The about us page...Write this in first person NOT 3rd person. Sounds tacky. I also almost missed the links at the bottom as when I got to the service areas and stuff I thought the page was done. 11. At the bottom of each page you have listed all the services and service areas which is great but this is more for Google than for the customer so reduce the font to a smaller size and don't make it bold.
Don't take any of this personal as they are just my observations.
Slow here too. Wash DC. area. Everything is frozen. I seen somewhere someone offering deals on roof washing if they sign up now. Suppose they get a third up front? Call it a winter special? I dunno? I sold beer for 16 years. After the holidays people are broke from Xmas, lol! Everything slows down for a couple of months for most industries. Then people get their taxes and spend spend spend!
Hey Pat check out my website??? Your critique sounds very good!
Wait until the first or second week of March. Your prayers will be answered.
Yep. This business is not that different from farming, selling X-mas trees etc. The point is the population dictates demand, and there are so many variables working against us right now. Weather and money are at the forefront. In addition, generally people aren't in the 'cleaning' mindset this time of year anyway. I have graphed this trend for years now, and it is getting tighter and tighter. You get CRAZY busy in the Spring for a couple months (to the point you begin questioning your own sanity). Then as summer hits people are distracted by the beach, the 4th of July and spending time with the kids. Once the kids go back to school, business spikes again. I think once you are an established name in your community, this is what you will find...be prepared to make 45% of your income for the YEAR in 2.5 months in the Spring. You will be consistent in the summer months if you are working the business and getting referrals. Then the fall season will get more busy again without too much stress. Winters are DEAD. I haven't worked a winter in 15 years, nor has the local farmer. Tax season to deer season. Roughly April 15 to November 15, weather permitting for Michigan. Florida is different obviously, but the prices are lower and the competition is rampant.
Thanks KP i was starting to doubt myself and started to lose my motivation. I have back off my advertising campaign a little and the results are starting to show on the search engines. Seams like winter is never going to end. thanks for give me the motivation to get back on my horse. thank brother.
There are some great answers here, some really good posts. Here is my 2 cents worth, FWIW. Back when I started non pressure roof cleaning hwere in Tampa, it was a hard sell. I had to bust my azz night and day to get established. I did it the old fashioned way, since I lacked money when I satrted, I went door to door, offering Free, no obligation demos. I want to help you, so here is what I suggest for yoo, go see some roofing contractors, tell them about your non roof damaging service, and offer to clean them 1/2 price! GIVE them a deal, they will reward you 100 fold for it. Next, go see painters, explain how the Mildew of a roof spreads to the paint, and can EAT up their guaranteed paint job! They will start sending you work, and you TELLL the painters and roofers you will LOOK OUT for them, in return. Next, go see every realtor in your town, bring a portfolio of before and after pics, if you have none, steal mine www.roof-cleaning-tampa.com Explain to the realtors how a clean roof will help sell their listings. Also see the property managers in the real estate offices too, they manage the rentals. JUST having a well placed web site is NOT enough, even here in Florida, where roof cleaning is as common as cutting grass. Chris
Does anyone use home inspectors ? Banks in my area are requiring it more and more before they give a home loan. Plan on meeting with a couple of them and loading them down with info. and business cards .

Absolutely! We get a considerable amount of work from home inspectors. Yard guys, handymen, sattelite tv installers, carpet cleaners, maids, anyone who is calling on residential homes is a potential lead generation source. I have found the BEST way to have these fellow business owners help you is to help THEM, first! If someone has rotten soffitts for instsnce, refer a handyman to them. If you look out for others, they will look out for you. Guys, I have trained more roof cleaners then I can remember. The ones who made it big, network well.
You are right, Chris, these have been great posts. Very good advice. I'm gonna be talking to everyone who has anything to do with roofing, realtors, lawncare and inspections. I'll be yakking like I was just waterboarded!

I got a question about trying to get work from roofers don't you think they would wanna take your idea and then get into cleaning roofs?? I love the Idea of going to everyone else but a little iffy on going to a Roofer and offering my service.Thats like a Lawn care company going to a Lawn Maintence company and saying we will fert your lawns..sooner or later the Maintence guys will start spraying weeds and fert there you have more competition...
