Who is answering your phones? What worked best for me is was when I had an answering service. When potential customers would call the answering service would sound like a very busy office, so potential customer thought I was a busy company.

The answering service would gather all the needed information like their name, what they need cleaned, all their phone numbers,  and their address, and the answering service would tell them that a company representative will call them with in 10 minutes. 

The answering service would immediately text me over all this information. I like this because I would be better prepared to talk to them instead of  them calling me while I'm driving or working.

Talk about Image I played the whole thing up, I did huge advertising, I had the big Box truck with large lettering, and the answering service, and with all the huge equipment that people wants to see.

Those big box truck's are more for big commercial Companies oppose to small individual's so people has a tendency to think your some huge Company with a fleet of these trucks.

The answering service was expensive, and they did make plenty of mistake.

I'm curious what works best for all you guys.

We have an aswering machin (my partner's wife's voice) that goes to one magick jack on one part of the messege says that "one of our representatives will get in touch with you ASSP......" and then I call them from my cell or from my other magic jack phone!

It does work with new customers, because they think you have an office and it sounds profesional.... but, be carefull with regular customers, you have to answer the phone or they will cath you!!!

We are chaging all this to reall life for 2010 if God gives us time and life to acumplish.

Just my opinion guys.

Clyde it is an internet based phone line that uses Voice Over IP or over the internet and it is only $20 per year. yep per year. You can get one at wally world or radio shack and I think target now. I have had mine for over a year

Ive been answering my phone myself. Yeah, it sucks when your doing something and you get a call from a customer, but Ithink its better than them calling your competitor. Sometimes people want the easiest and quickest way.

I have also had customers tell me that they like how I always pick up my phone...Well...not always, but thats what my voicemail is for.

Most of the time however, i pick it up and if not then i call right back.

I got a job because I answered the phone on a Sunday afternoon. Personal attention is what they want.

 is not how fast you answer the phone is how soon you get back to them!!

see!! (just my opinion) every time I get a phone call and they live their info. it gives me a few minutes to find out "who is calling" or at least where they calling from!  that way I know what to answer before I call them back!!

guys!! Do not use your cell phone # for busines!!!!!! when things go wrong your phone will be ringing 24/7  ( and please don't  tell me that you are perfect and never have a problem with a home owner)!!

if a customers call you on a sunday call him back!!  but don't call people on a sunday!!!

I take all my calls, all the time. Acquiring a new customer is very expensive. One of those expenses means climbing down and calling them back if I have to.

I try to always answer my phone. Even if I'm 2 stories up on a roof.....lol They laugh every time. But i always call them right back and get there info. This def. gets me the job. One lady told me that she called one company in the phone book and the wife answered and said "idk if he does roof cleaning hold on"
