We offer a $50 coupon on the gutter cleaning if we clean the complete roof. Works for us as the gutters need cleaning any way when you clean the roof.
Way to GO Roy Lawson ! Too many idiots giving away services to sell roof cleaning! We have one idiot down here offering to wash the entire HOUSE w/roof cleaning! Certified Roof Cleaners sell on SKILL It is ok to offer a special, but you will NEVER get rich people if you are too cheap, or give away too much! They will run away.
I have a customer that we go to every year and when we give the bill she is always certain that we aren't charging enough! I find that offering a certain dollar amount off goes much better than a percentage as people know what they are getting up front

How much time does it take to clean gutters, say, on the front of the avg. house?
I'm thinking, if it's no big deal, don't mention it, do it(!), and blow your customer's mind with your over the top service. Just my 2 cents.
Paul, that's good thinking with your heart, but not with your business IQ. Gutters take about 30-45 minutes on a good day. Factor in chemical, time, and the PITA factor, because that's all they are is a huge PITA. Then, that "FREE" service cuts into your overhead, which now cuts into your profit margin, then margin dollars, and finally: Your Bottom Line! And gutters return to a weathered appearance very quickly around here, so in the end, a truly free gutter cleaning costs more than it pays.

Right Kevin, I never offer free gutter cleaning because sometimes it takes just as much time to brush the gutters as it does to clean the whole house!
Here in Greensboro, NC, I include brushing the gutters with the house wash price but not with cleaning the roof.
So the effort is not worth the trouble. I get it. I was used to dealing with higher priced projects (multi-thousands), lasting days, weeks, and months. I found it hard to ask for extras on relatively small stuff. In this business the small stuff adds up every day.
