Purple power from Wal-Mart will remove these. Simple mixing is 1 gallon of PP to water. Can go 50/50 in cooler weather and lighter in hot weather. some you could probably just spray on and rinse off,...BUT,,.it's more controlled to apply light and let sit and run a brush lightly over it to assure complete coverage of the product and cleaning.
Our type of work isn't retirement,...no shame in using a brush or a ladder to get the job done. If you try and use the strength of product it takes to apply and just rinse,..chances are,...you'll be getting work also as a painter,.. except not getting paid If you don't want to do gutters properly then I wouldn't even bother at all.
Most of the time if the gutters are not bad they will come clean with just downstreaming the house wash mix and rinsing, sometimes rinse with a little pressure.
If this does not clean them then you will have to brush but over time you will know by looking at them if you will have to brush or not so charge accordingly.
No matter what product you use, don't let it dwell on the surface too long or it can remove or damage the paint.

Not acid rain just oxidation from the alum. We use Greased Lightning mixed 50/50 with water. Spray it on with a pump up sprayer and agitate lightly with a brush on a pole. Works awesome!!!!

Guys you are going to love me! we use a Butyl Degreaser to remove these stains....We put it in a spray bottle and mix it 40/60 or 50/50 for really bad streaking. you can hand scrub or spray on and rinse off. $40.00 for 5gal

AC if it's just oxidation why is it that you see it on top of vinyl fences, plastic mail boxes and etc, I always thought it was Acid rain and other things?
There is nothing that you can just spray on and it will work. You have to use a little bit of elbow. Use this and you will have to use even less. http://pressuretek.com/fguge.html
Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't. I spray mine with gutter gernade then hit it with a stack brush. Sometimes when they are not real bad, I hit it with the gutter gernade then downstream a little house wash over it and rinse without brushing, but in most cases it takes a swipe with the brush to get them really clean.
I'll go with Al. Most times we can get them pretty clean without brushing, but to be certain use gutter grenade and lightly brush. Only takes a few more minutes.

If it is ontop of a vinyl mailbox it may be mildew. look for any kinda screws, galvanized or stainless. also vinyl fences have galvinized ribs inside them. we get it here in florida and we dont get any acid rain. were not near any large industrial areas. but I may be wrong.
Hands down, the best Gutter Cleaner I have ever used is F-13 from Pressure Tek.

EHHHHHHHHHH WRONG! I have used Purple Stuff or Purple Cleaner...heck can't think of the name now. Looked for it in my garage and I am out. Figures. I have bought it at Walmart and auto supply stores. I have used this stuff straight. Put in my pump up sprayer and spray it on. Rinse right away. Within a minute. If it dries it will not rinse off. You will have to re-apply it and rinse. I have yet to find a gutter it couldn't clean. In 15 years of using it I have never damaged a gutter. Until...lol. I had some sitting in my garage for the last 3 years. I got it out and used it on my gutters. It removed some of the paint. I don't know if it is like ammo that it gets stronger with age or if it was just a bad batch from the factory. I diluted it some and it worked great for the rest of my gutters. Spray on rinse off with garden hose. My first 3 years in business I hand scrubbed gutters but never after finding this PURPLE Stuff

When I was a green in the pw arena I searched high and low for a good product. Now from what I've learned most people will say its cause by electrostatic bonding which a chemical bond in which one atom loses an electron to form a positive ion and the other atom gains to electron to form a negative ion. If someone can translate this as to how it pertains to these stains help yourself. Self proclaimed scholars will note this chemical reaction caused tar run off from asphault shingles to bond to the gutter. But this theory does not explain why the same stains can be found on vinyl fences or drip stains off the side of windows. Sometimes the same stain can be found on a vehicles, especially white cargo trailers. F-13 works hands down the best I've seen for gutters but not vinyl. Purple Degreaser (I like Zep) seems to be the only thing to work on vinyl. I elect Clyde for formal laboratory study.

Well I guess it matters how clean you want them. I want them as clean as possible and to do that you 90% of the time have to scrub.

BTW. That "Purple Power" is a degreaser and I dont think I remember seeing any grease on any gutters I have cleaned.
F13 is designed to attack the oxidation on the gutter..nothing in the walmart stuff your talking about does that. It will though get off the basic dirt and grime but you will still be left with some oxidations.
But again I guess it really depends on what you call clean.
